The filter flow can be very strong, but I use an "Aquarium Air Valve" to attach to the air-tube, and it can control the amount of air going in to the filter - it works wonders - I also use them to control the air-bubble strength in all my aquariums. As for the filter media - I don't even bother with those thin cartridges, I use a square sponge from a sponge filter to use instead, and cut it to fit perfectly into the filter.. Anyways.. maybe the valve idea can help..

I'm puting it with a betta do u think it would be okay? And the instruction manual says to attach a "check valve" so the water doesn't get siphoned out. It's that really needed?

The answer is NO, because it is way TOO LOUD!!! I have one come with my 3 gal tank, couldn't regret more, it is a bad buy......

i know this is an old video, but for anyone wondering how to adjust the flow, i just tied a twisty tie around the tubing gentle enough so it still flows but its not on full blast. works for me :)

Shirley the savge 2.5 gallons i would say but wouldnt you want a bigger space to live in? Anything under 2.5 gallons is a little too small and people who buy small tanks wont do tons of water changes and know what a "proper setup" is, now we can keep arguing about this but some people are hardheaded so just stop please....random notifications...

Luke Beyers Please read before getting anything live. First of all, FUN FACT! One gold fish grows to a size thats about the palm or larger of an adults hand and need 20 gallons for one, 10 for +1 goldfish. Also, gold fish poop a ton so getting this filter would be funny in a 3 gallon. Please spend a little to get a proper setup. This was 3 months ago so hopefully your fish are not dead yet.

Serbia Strong 2.5 gallons at minimum (internets opinion) but yes 3 gallons, to all saying "my betta lives in a tiny ass bowl or box that i call a tank!" Please stop, too small and i can guarantee you dont know anything about chemical properties of your water and what a cycle is. Just stop, dont say random stuff and false claims. Who are you to say your fish are living a great life? Old video but just looking at the comments are making me furious.

Bitch is on her period ag.... We would all love large 10 g tanks but most people are poor or don't have enough room some places don't even allow large tanks like that. 1-2 g is fine for a betta as long as you take care of it. Humans should have large amounts of room, but do we always get that in today's world? NO your logic on animal cruality is skewed

@Serbia Strong you are a fucking elitist. Certain fish can live happily in smaller tanks. Bigger is better yes, but by that argument we should all be putting betas in the ocean. If you want a fish and know how to take care of it then a small 1g is fine. Just needs to be cleaned often wtth no filter. You are NOT the god of fish fuck off

I agree. Bettas in the wild have sometimes miles of territory, and only are confined to water comparable to the size of a bowl is during the dry season. They can endure it, sure, but like you can reason a beached whale doesn't like to be beached, you can reason a betta doesn't enjoy waiting in a puddle, scraping by on whatever insects happen to fall in.

They're very hardy fish used to adapting to hard times, but we shouldn't make them endure it if we can help it.

Kelsey Peyton Just because the bettas were surviving doesn't mean they were thriving, you may have all the right parameters and conditions but would you like to be trapped in a 1 gallon bowl with barely any space to move around? Just ask yourself that, bettas aren't fish that stay in one spot.

It's not just the bioload. We always see goldfish as very small but normally they should not stay that size and will die due to stunting even if all else seems well, in a small tank. Goldfish ALWAYS need a much bigger tank to grow to their full size and live their full lifespan, which is why goldfish like comets are generally better suited to ponds. In the most ideal conditions a goldfish can live to be over 20 years old and get nearly a foot long, but many people don't believe it because most people do not know this and do not provide such conditions.

Unfortunately, last year I bought a comet goldfish without knowing this, and he started in a 10gal. He's since been moved to a 20gal and very soon I'll need to upgrade again c:

+Kelsey Peyton Now with a goldfish a one gallon will usually not suffice because the filtration needed will be too much for the tank. But Bettas do not have as much of a bio load as goldfish.

I don't get why people out there fish in bowls when cleaning out there tanks. You should have done that BEFORE the video to not give people the idea that your are keeping the betta in a bowl.
