I'm definitely going to need this for my new male betta "Dingy", got him last night as a rescue from walmart, something in my heart told me to go look at the betta's and I quickly found out why, someone placed 2 males in 1 cup, the other is "Ganzel". Dingy is very much beaten up, he drags himself on the bottom, struggles to get air, His fins are all torn, It's painful to watch, but I have them separated, cleaned up, Fed(Both of them ate) and now I hope for the best that Dingy can pull threw this.

I did have 5, gave my 5th to a friend, so I had 4, but now I have 6 betta's!

I bought this tank just for the hell of it as it was 50% off for Black Friday. I had very low expectations for the filter and it still fell short. But whatever, I only intend to use it as an experimental tank for guppies.

Kendra Voracek I’ve seen betta fish do really well in 2.5 gallons. If it’s lightly decorated with live plants, it’s a pretty decent setup for them. However, goldfish cannot be put in a 2.5 gallon. A goldfish would develop growth defects and produce way too much waste.

Kendra Voracek well cause goldfish produce more waste and need larger space. A betta is fine with a 2.5 gallon and has enough space to grow and hide and swim around.

The filter intake is horrible. Too short not picking up any thing near the bottom, tube needs to be 2 inches longer. Basically it's a skimmer.

I agree the smallest sponge filter available would work so much better and have better beneficial bacteria in the tank.

Michael Agostino the reviews on the petsmart site seem to mostly complain about the filter too.. I have not tested it myself yet..but seems like I would be better off using a sponge filter.

I have this tank && would definitely NOT recommend it. ❌ The filter strength is terrible - almost non-existent. I had to check over && over to make sure that I had everything plugged in properly because the filter wasn’t even moving the water. Upon close, CLOSE inspection I could see the teeniest ripples on the top of the water and knew that just wasn’t going to work.

One positive - it does have pretty little lights.

I would keep ADF's in a larger, longer aquarium, but that is my preference. They also tend to congregate, so a group of three or more is best.

Thanks to this I looked up some smaller tank kits i could use as a quarrantine/ healing tank (thought about moving my betta there) and petsmart has a sale for a 3.5 gallon one on sale for $15.
Questionable but necessary life choices will be made

None. Guppies are schooling fish, so you should have at least six in at least a twenty gallon long, and a larger aquarium if you want more. Also, keep in mind that they overpopulate rapidly.

It’s pretty awesome that Top-Fin has made new tanks this year, They’re way better than the previous designs they’ve had! Also those lights will look pretty good with the lights under your desk.

I have the top fin imagine tank which is the 2.5 model and all except for the tank is useless, the divider (who divides a 2.5?), the filter (too low in gph) and the light which is too dim. I have a planted tank so thats why I have my own filter and light. I dont really recommend topfin for these reasons and also for their miss leading 24 hours and add fish statement which I fell for. Great review though, would help out anyone looking to buy one of these tanks :)

I have this tank for my betta Tanaka, he's been in there for 6 months.. and I've gotta say I want to switch to a larger 5 gallon rectangle tank. He can see himself in the spaces that meet up to make the hextagon.. and he flares A LOT and he seems unhappy and stressed out. I'll be upgrading as soon as I can. I don't know if it's the best for an aggressive fishie.

I actually have one of those but in my personal opinion I wouldn't even put a betta in there unless I had to. Top fin is a very good brand just the size of this specific tank is what worries me. I have a apple snail in it right now and I use it for putting fish in during stressful water changes. I recommend 2.5 gals or more but obviously if you take good care of the tank (water changes and regular maintenance) then this is a very good choice of tank. Atleast it has a filter

YourAveragePetPerson 000 for me it will be a good tank for senior bettas who are to lazy to swim around but its definetly a tricky tank to maintain for beginners who are just starting out.. I'd love to review a 5 gallon kit tank

i have the 3 gallon from that same company! while i love how much space is in it( so much for my betta Al), the light kinda... sucks. moreso for live plants(which i have in there). and the filter started making funky noises the day after i got the tank, so i just don't use it(i'm waiting to be able to buy a sponge filter for it, instead of that filter). otherwise, they're PERFECT for a betta!

Love top fin! I just got a 5 gallon top fin for my betta and it came with light, filter, lid, net. I don't use the filter it came with tho as I use sponge filters but top fin very good quality! My betta Chicago loves it.
