+Kevin Hirlinger Don't worry, they aren't in this type of home anymore! Thankfully this is some older footage. As soon as I learned that all of the bowls and 'betta tanks' sold in stores were actually not safe for bettas at all, I bought them new, bigger ones. Stores unfortunately don't just sell too small tanks for fish, but really all animals are sold with cages recommended too small for them :/ (birds, hamsters, bunnies, all of them). Its so misleading... all for profit really. Petsmart's Betta Care Basics pamphlet says bettas can live in a quarter gallon tank..and although at the point this video was made I assumed 1 gallon was fine, I knew a quarter gallon is much too small. People will believe the pets stores because they are supposed to be the 'experts'.

There are those type of people in every hobby. You are good as long as the bettas are happy and warm and keep up with the water changes :) Bettas would like huge tanks like humans want to live in a mansion - its a luxury but not a necessity. :) I personally think 1 gallon is a minimum though. My orange betta is named Draco after the character in Harry Potter :)

ok I was just wondering cause people say that's "abuse" having fish in a container. Whats his name? My betta that's orange is ozzy

+Aquarium Boy123 Thanks! I like orange and other uniquely colored bettas too :) Yes, the bowl does have a heater (80 +/- 2 F) , but they don't have a filter.
