Why do Betta Fish NEED a heater for their tank or bowl ?

While some people say that Bettas will be "fine" without an aquarium heater ..unless you live in a tropical country it is recommended to have one. A Bettas metabolism is affected by the change in water temperature because they are cold blooded. This in turn makes them lethargic, constipated, and more prone to getting sick. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ★★Follow me on my Social Media ★★ Become a part of the #CreativeCritters Click HERE to SUBSCRIBE (It's FREE): https://goo.gl/SkhMM6 ★CREATIVE PET KEEPING INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/creativepetkeeping FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/CreativePetKeeping/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/KasiaPetKeeping PERISCOPE: @CreativePetKeeping SNAPCHAT: CreativePet Facebook FAN GROUP: https://goo.gl/plD97d ★CREATIVE PET VLOGS YOUTUBE: https://goo.gl/ec91IJ INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/creativepinkunicorn Feel free to TAG me in fanart YOU make! If I had a heater my tank water would literally start warming up most of the year it's above 38degree Celsius here in the middle East

You should also get a thermometer if you're getting a heater.
Some ppl saying its harmful to put aquarium salt and some ppl dont.. So I really need to heal my betta fish
and I am worried that it will get harmful to their lungs. Please help!
But I do think that I will have to address diseases and how to treat them at one point or another. I do add small amounts of aquarium salt into all my fresh water tanks all the time. Its good for the fish..the important think it to keep the amount very small.
I've been using the Nat Geo water tablets once a week (as directed) to maintain a healthy tank. All of my test strips say the water is perfectly safe for the fish but it's still so stinky.
I have a moss ball that is in perfect health, so I know it can't be that. But I'm wondering if the tank is over crowded, or if there is a bacteria bloom? The water is 80 degrees I have a crowntail betta, 2 neon tetras, 3 rasboras, and 4 peppered cory catfish. They're all schooling fish aside from the beta so I felt like I needed enough of them in order for them to be comfortable. I would have bought 5 rasboras instead of 2 tetras and 3 rasboaras but they only had 3 rasboaras in stock... I did JUST change the filter last night and that's also the same night I did the cleaning. The fish all seem to be doing just fine. I'm going out today to get some water clear to maybe stop the bacteria bloom? I also feed my fish twice a day and I'm going to cut it down to once a day now- hoping the smell will go away. Feedback? Suggestions? Thanks.
Sounds like something else is going on... Is he still lethargic today? So far I've had to replace two faulty heaters with return/shipping time which has let me observe that my Betta is happy and active at both cool and warm temps.
