+Dakota Smith Simply get a stone budha and boil it to make sure you get rid of any bacteria, salts or anything similar, that will do :) I usually do that with stones.

Hi i just got a tank because of ur inspiring video ;) i just wanna know where did u get those bamboo shoots from? and does it have any paint on it? im afraid that if there's paint on it , it will ware off and may kill my fish =(

The bamboo was from a wedding supply store (believe it or not). I can't remember the name of the store because it was so long ago. And it was in Los Angeles. I had to boil the sticks to prevent paint from dissolving into the aquarium water. The sticks lasted about 6 months until they began to rot :(

yes, boil it. The heat expands the "pores" so it allows more water to readily flow through. In the pot, I'd keep a lid on cus I heard horror stories of how it can explode :-o

hey, they sell similar buddhas at petsmart dot com now. Just type "buddha" in the search. The one I had in my video is not meant for aquariums.

I had java ferns on one side, anubias nana on the other side and hornwort throughout. I don't have this setup anymore cus I had to move but thinking of a new aquascape in the very near future!

Hello, I got the buddha from eBay. they don't always have them listed. Petsmart actually sells a similar buddha now and they are specifically meant for aquariums. The music was stock music that you can include when you load a video on youtube

Hello Everyone, PetSmart is actually selling Buddhas specifically for aquariums now (the one in my video is from eBay and not specifically made for aquariums. Just go to petsmart dot com and type in "buddha" in the search!

The background plant was hornwort. The plants to the left are anubias nanas and the plants to the right are java ferns

I could prob look at that tank for hours! I also have betta and had never thought of putting a zen tank in for him. Poor guy lives all alone in a 20 gal tank. :(

Where did you get the dried bamboo sticks from? I assume that they will rot so you'd have to change them often? Or are they sealed?

@Drewmeikleham yes, that is exactly what I did! If you boil it, the stone expands a bit, letting more water fill up, thus expelling the trapped air that made the stature float in the first place.

Alot of people have done this kind of set up with bamboo and a buddah and i think it looks amazing! my buddah is alot smaller in my betta tank though! beautiful betta!

@mikepags Tanks for the compliment! Unfortunately the bamboo started to rot so I needed to get rid of them :( I wish they made ornaments of bamboo specifically for fish tanks!

Awesome tank! How is the bamboo holding up. I've heard on one hand that is lasts a long time, then on the other hand, I've heard it can rot and contaminate the water. Did you have to coat it with anything?
