Hi! It's cute that you got a a little fishy but here are a few things to consider!

1. Your fish will probably need a bigger tank. Siamese fighting fish need a tank that is at least 2.5 - 5 gallons. That is the right sized home for a betta and it is he perfect tank size to heat.

2. You are going to need a heater. Heaters are vital because fighting fish are tropical fish and need a water temp. 77-82 degrees Fahrenheit.

3. You should wash the gravel and plants and decorations before putting your betta in. It's just cleaner. :)

4. You are going to have to cycle your tank. This can take about 2-4 weeks. Please do your reasearch on this subject!

5. Your going to need a filter. Filters and vital to any fishes home. They take out particles and bad chemicals and make your tank cleaner.

6. You need water conditioner. Tap water is not safe for fish. Tap water contains harsh chemicals like chlorine and sometimes lead! Water conditioner helps detoxify those. :)

7. You need to acclimate your betta. No matter where you get your betta, the temp. Of the water hat it is in is going to be different than your tank temp. You are going to need to get both the water temps. The same! :)

Thanks for reading, just please do your research next time before getting a pet that needs lots of care. It pains me to see fish in bowls, or in vases or dirty water! Thanks ❤️❤️

You guys did it all wrong. No cleaning the gravel, and decors, no conditioning of water, no filter, no heater and most important of all, no aclimation. The tank size is also not good enough for your betta. Minimum tank size must be 5 gallons for a betta to lead a happy, healthy and a long life.

the tank is too small u have to wash the pebbles the gems and the aquarium off so they r clean and there wont be any harmful chemicals on it the plastic plant has sharp edges and could rip the bettas tails and hurt him. the aquarium also needs a filter and heater and if u dont put those things in atleast put in a plant so the betta can get oxydin from somewhere and also when u have set up ur tank dont put the fish in right away u have to let the aquarium just be for 1-2 weeks and let the water get filterd and stuff. i dont know a lot about fish but i do own a betta and more fish myself and this is just so wrong! please give the betta a better home

Lol dont get a fish if you're this young. Only if your parents know how to take care of the fish and these dont. The minimum tank is 2,5 gallon but 5-10 gallon is best. Mk so it's fine if you don't rinse the gravel, that's understandable, but you should have a filter at least. And let the water sit overnight with conditioner instead of putting him in right away. Also a bigger tank would be appreciated, and Bettas love big tanks, but 1 gallon is the minimum size for a tank so it's not generally a bad size, just a spoiled kid.

These aren't the right things for a beta fish. (I have had many betta fish) first if you want a betta fish to stay alive you need declorinator if using tap water. Use only silk plants because it hurts the tail and fins, they are very fragile. Wash all decor before using.

Pastel Betta you don't exactly need all these stuff... mines used to be in a 1.5 gallon tank (now in a 10 gallon) and he was fine without any stress and lived in there for 8 months with weekly water changes. Disclaimer: he's still alive in a 10 gallon going soon in a 15 gallon tank for himself

fish aren't toys. they need to be looked after. the same as you wouldn't get a dog if you couldn't look after it properly, fish are no different.

I was a terrible betta fish owner and I'm not proud of it.... now all my bettas are in a 10g aquariums they all live in separate ones each though obviously, they each have a filter and heating and if you look at my old videos you will see that I used too keep them in small bowls like all 2.9 gallons

First off you are a terrible pet owner for keeping your fish in a .5 gallon tank and all Betta fish need a filter, heater, and water conditioner. And if someone can't meet the needs of an animal, then they shouldn't get one.

If you can't get a proper tank setup then don't get the fish. It's simple. A 10 gallon is actually perfect for a betta and there is no species where you could fit over 7 fish in a 10 gallon. It's too small. You obviously don't know very much about bettas and I suggest doing research before commenting like this.

you should get the aqueon Betta bow 2.5 ( never use the divide) use the filter included and get a heater and some Api water conditioner, wash everything thouraly and do so much research

Cats 6 the beta fish doesnt need that kind of stuff i even ever put a betta on a jar with nothing in it only water and the fish i feed the betta fish red worms or mosquito larva and it is a live for 2 years

khup lian Not entirely true. Many fish need water agitation, and Dynamic variables in a thriving environment. A filter doesn't just act as a source of filtration, it also plays a key role in the nitrogen cycle. Bettas like very calm water, where my Oscar on the other hand loves hard moving water. At the end of the day people need to do more research before they buy fish. Yes, the fish is doing much better now that it is in a bigger tank, but you should never cut corners when providing for your animals.

Cats 6 I agree with everything accept a heater. I live in Southern California and I don't use a single heater. All of my tanks stay at around 81°f and in winter go as low as 76°f. Bettas are very strong fish, and can do with out many things, which is why they are such a great beginner fish. They don't live very long, don't need a large tank, don't produce a lot of waste. Is the tank was around a 5 Gallon, they could get away with 2.5 gallon water changes a week with no filter. I know I'm going to get bashed for not saying to do it by the book, but the kid has to learn some how. At least it's not an Oscar in that tank....

Štëłłå Brūčë wrong. you can buy fish water at petco. some well water is safe. rarely. I use a reverse osmosis set up under my sink by bulk reef supply and add minerals to water measured by weight. u need at least a sponge filter and weekly water changes. and it's cruel to put them in anything less than 2.5 gallons of true swimming space for the fish. I use two 5 gallon tanks for 2 of my bettas. and a 10 gallons for my super pretty expensive betta I imported from over seas

Bettas need at least a 2.5 low powered filter and no sharp objects or places for it to go inside I made that mistake and lost fish:( and I know this because I have a happy male veil tail and i hope this will help a good betts starter kit is the aqueon mini bow 2.5 from Petco or petsmart

Gymnastics Stell74 whats the point of getting them a 10 gallon tank? Sure, they'll live happily, but it won't be worth the money. I could put 5 gold fish or 6 angel fish in there instead and it'll look way better. If I were to get a tank that big, I definitely know that I wouldn't put just one measly Betta fish in there. I'm not being mean, I'm just saying that I wouldn't give a Betta a big tank. The highest I'd give it would be a 4 gallon tank.

add more water to that tank and tell your kid not to smack the tank at all because that will stress the fish out. when you upgrade to a bigger tank make sure to let it cycle for about 1 to 2 weeks so the nitrates, nitrites, and nemonia levels can settle. what kind of food are you feeding the fish? take out those clear rock and olaf so the fish has more room to swim.

+KaizerToys it's all good. You didn't know most people don't. Just get a 2.5 gallon tank or above and read up on the nitrogen cycle. Also make sure that the next tank has a heater and a filter.

Taken care good? I just saw you setup a 3.4 Liter tank with non-rinsed gravel and decorations, no heater and most importantly, no water conditioner. right after that you threw the fish in the tank without acclimation. Explain how is that a 'good care'?
