This is an absolutely horrendous setup. No fish can be kept in a bowl (for many reasons), plus bettas need a filter, heater and cover and significantly more space than whatever the hell this vase is supposed to be. Not to mention that plastic plants can tear a betta's fins and make them susceptible to rotting.

If your betta is lethargic it is probably due to an improper environment. Here's a checklist you can use to figure out any problems:
Do you have all of the following?
- a tank that is 2.5 gallons or larger
- A heater that makes the water around 78 degrees F
- A filter to maintain the nitrogen cycle

If you don't have all of those requirements met, then that is the most likely cause for your betta to be lethargic

Any gender of the Betta can have any tailtype. It just depends on the Genetics, if you breed a male with long fins with a female with long fins too, you'll get long finned babies. And some short finned babies.

actually, a female Betta can look any way. Same with male Bettas, I've seen some female bettas with long fins, then I seen some male Bettas with short fins. The Key to finding the gender is at their belly, at their belly there's a little egg spot. If you see a white little thing near the belly, its a female. If you don't, its a male

Rafael Oldroyd that is a HUGE myth. They can SURVIVE in a puddle for a period of time. Ideally they need an absoulute MINIMUM of 2.5 gallons unless quarantined.

Владимир пушкин I don'r think, Betta fish actually need filters, bc I use these special water fertelizer drops and my big tank, and, my HEATER as well, and my betta fishy seema pretty happy without a filter :) I also clean their tank about once or twice a week, so they don't get too dirty

I know i couldhave said it in a nicer way, im sorry. But the fish really does have fin rott..and i can already see a rip in the fins trust me, my betta fish kenny got a red tinge on his fins, i didint think it was a problem, but then it spread everywhere..and eventually the day came where his fins started to get consumed from the rot, thankfully i stopped it just in time, its a long process for the fish to regrow his fins, so i strongly suggest to treat him fast any befor it spreads, the reason i know its fin rot is becouse when rotting, a red tinge is very common in darker betta fish..i suggest freshwater aquarium salt, it helps alot

Nikki and Abbi’s Daily it's not hard to keep a betta alive. They are very hardy fish and can survive a wide range of conditions for longer than other types of fish. However, in order to be happy and in great long term health, bettas do in fact need at least 2.5 gallons of heated water and a filter (unless you do water changes 2 times a week or more)

Jocelyn Dominguez lol no. The heater IS required for your betta unless you keep it in a room that's 80 degrees. Otherwise, the betta will become lethargic and will eventually die. If you haven't done your research, you shouldn't give advice. As an owner of 5 bettas who're all in 2.5 gallon heated filtered tanks or larger, I know what I'm talking about.
