You showed us the mildew on the vinyl but didn't state the best way to remove it. Please give us you recommendations.

Hi Tom! Great question. One way to remove mildew stains (and spider droppings) on vinyl is OxiClean powder (original). Mix according to directions, apply, and gently scrub with a nylon brush, then let sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. If you need a bit more scrubbing power, you can safely use a wetted Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. However, it is abrasive, so be gentle so as not to damage your vinyl. If you can, test it in an inconspicuous spot first so you don't have any unexpected results. The trick, though, is that once you remove the stains, you need to seal and protect the vinyl with a product such as 303 Aerospace Protectant to keep them from returning. The one thing you NEVER want to use is bleach or a product that contains bleach as it will damage the vinyl and stitching over time . Keep an eye out in the April/May 2018 issue of BoatU.S. Magazine for an article on safe cleaning solutions (and prevention) for some of the most challenging stains on your boat.

Tips on cleaning that vinyl would be good. I recommend cleaner/degreaser and using a wet magic eraser.

From Mark Corke, Associate Editor, BoatUS Magazine: It should be changed annually in concert with routine engine service.
