Why do you put the tip of the rod in the water after casting? What does that do?
You should write a book on fishing. I would definitely buy it! I don't even know how high on the line the float should be based on what I'm trying to fish for. Of course, if I catch anything I'm happy.

Morrison’s are selling packets of sprats between 30p & £1.00 depending on how many are in the packets hope that helps someone. Great video boys I have a question for anyone who would know. Is there any good marks in the northeast of uk for pike or /and Zander thank you in advance tight lines.

SMITH (hand raised): Smith here Mr Pullen still seated at the back of the class. Me sister's asked me to ask you and your fishing chums to keep a look out for her cat cos it's run off. It's a black moggie, very tame and likes to sit on people's heads. She thinks it might be a stowaway on a fishing boat as it likes fish, particularly pouting, so please check your boat 'High Seas Driftwood'. Oh…the cat's name is Hattie and its got fleas.

How can i avoid carp when targeting roach on a commercial fishery, i get more enjoyment from fishing for silverfish on light tackle than carp fishing. But i do not enjoy the long fight when a carp takes the bait and the fear of getting my gear busted.
TA Fishing
TA Fishing - 5 years ago
That is the problem with carp, they take everything you throw out. I was told its best to feed very lightly if you want the silver fish. Any heavy feeding and in comes Mr greedy pig !! If you get the carp move in on you, just change swims to get away from them. And use light feed again.

Thanks Graeme nice compilation. Time to bring the rods home from the boat and give them a clean. It will be quiet on the Bure for a few weeks now till the summer madnes starts. Been a poor year really otters have bred big time and the section of the bure I fish is bereft of fish. I feels like there's a pair every 50 yards and the river can't sustain it. seems pointless to have a closed fishjng season when there aee so many otters.

Graeme, Can you explain please why is it that rotten, rancid, gone-off chum attracts fish? Why is it they would go for gone-off stuff as well as fresh? I get Hyenas and Vultures are scavengers on the Serengeti, does that mean that some fish species are scavengers as well as predators? Thanks. Robert.
TA Fishing
TA Fishing - 5 years ago
I have no idea, but it doesn't bother any of the shark family. Years ago(60 plus years) they would have separate drums on the shark boats out of Looe in Cornwall, with pilchards or mackerel in varying stages of decomposition. The softer stuff was always used first, plus it allowed the oil to come out of the fish. They caught, quite literally, thousands of sharks each year. Nowadays you couldn't catch enough macks in half a day to make enough chum for a day's sharking.

Another top quality video, at least the sea fishing bit, I don't get fresh water fishing apart from pike and trout. Over the years you have shown us how to tie numerous rigs but could you explain why use which rig and when. I am new to beach fishing and have been five times now and blanked every time. Thank you in anticipation.

I think it was to keep Cormorants off ? They can decimate a fishery's stock, pretty much like the Otters are doing in our rivers. The Herons are different. They tend to work only the margins where they wade and stalk. But the Cormorants just swim under water eating everything in sight.

Don't worry graeme it's hard everywhere at the moment. I went out for a perch session on a little picturesque pond in the woods with some manky old freezer maggots and a few raw prawns. Fishing margins with one rod all day and tried to catch livebait with the other, and not a nibble on either. Not even a tiny little livebait. At last light the float finally dipped and I had my first ever stillwater dace. I relieved him of livebait duties cos he had turned the day around. Great days fishing!

Ha Ha that was funny Mills & Boon, Mike didn't have a clue what you was talking about !! I have been having success using a maggot feeder then swapping out for a small cage feeder using maggot as hook bait. I had a nice 2lb Rudd off the bottom using the maggot feeder, but mainly Roach, Skimmers a couple of decent Bream,Rudd and a bonus Tench!
