The one thing that makes this so hard is that the fairway for most people is much more narrow than what you had to deal with. Ur technique is great no doubt but when you make that first turn to starboard at my dock you will immediately be within the danger zone of someone elses boat so its hard to be super calm.

what would you do if while you were perpendicular to the slip you had a head wind? Would you just bring it in bow first?

Great question, yes you may have to pull her on in bow first. However if you can allow for the wind and get your aft side against a support, you can actually use that with just a bit of throttle to pivot her inside the slip. Make sense?

Great video! Your "in gear - back out" method worked perfectly. I recently purchased a 26', up from 19', and was struggling with backing it into my new slip. Tried your method this weekend and the boat backed into the slip like it was on rails.

I can't tell you how helpful watching this video was for me. Backed my boat into my slip for the first time ever this season. Two times so far using your method and worked great both times. Wasn't able to do it without touching anything like you did but hopefully before long I'll get there. "Put it in gear.... back out" is the key! Thanks!

No wind that day if I remember correctly. Typically I see what direction it's blowing and allow a little for it. You may stop your movement by tapping forward or reverse, without making a complete revolution with the wheel before doing. That will stop your momentum, and stop the wind from carrying you too far. Make sense?
