I clip a long cord onto mine and back it up into deep water and let it float back. I then pull forward a bit, put it in park, get out and grab the cord that is reeling out and pull it over to the boat dock.
I have to be in the closest ramp lane to the dock for this maneuver.

The Kill switch lanyard should always be attached to you even if you are just launching a PWC to secure it on the beach
