The only problem with people driving their boats onto trailers instead of using their winch is that they often creat a deep hole at the end of the ramp which eventually destroys a good ramp. As time goes by trailer wheels end up falling into a deep hole at the end of the ramp and get stuck. The concrete ramp loses it's support and also drops, cracks and breaks away. Sure, it's a little bit harder, but I always think it's best to use your winch when you can.

Back in the 60s and 70s (and earlier) boat trailers used to have 'outriggers' to help guide the boat onto the trailer. Larger boat trailers in n.z. still do. Why did we stop using them here. Even 'smaller' boats would benefit from have them on the trailer, especially for cross currents and single person loading.

Theres no point leaving the bungs out till you put it back in the water. Wait till it has drained then bung the bungs back in!

My boat lives outside, if I put the bungs back in it would be full of rainwater next time I use it!

Hi, would you recommend loading bunks or rollers like the one in this video for a 33 feet 3 ton dry weight/ 4 ton gross weight boat ?? Thanks....

the US Navy does this best and they don't use rollers. You need a "light wire" to toss from trailer to boat connected to "the heavy"(strap and winch).

always crank your boat in.
make sure you use that safety chain too.

In my opinion I think you should go with bunks for any boat trailer. They are safer than rollers and they don't leave marks on your boat.
