yea I agree with below...you can figure a gallon a mile with a 32ft boat with twin v8s... and I heard noting about Dock rent. better get out another thousand for that with hoist fee...and don't forget the boat cub membership too that the wife will what to hang out at...

3 gph? pu ha ha !!!! I have 225 sea ray with 305 merc.. 18 gph wot..... if you have larger boat with 2 engines like 30 foot range..30-35 gph easy.. I am in Brooklyn NY..gas was average $4 per gallon at the marina this summer, it means... 35x4= $140 per hour... 90 hours a year will cost you more than $12.000........

The 1% thing doesn't really work out if you buy a used boat. that would be only $20 to maintenance on a 2000 dollar boat. Smaller boats don't require insurance, and in my state it's only 15 bucks a year to register. similar price for registering the trailer. Maintenance costs can be more than the boat itself if you have rotten wood in there. the point is just be careful of the condition of what you buy and it won't be all that expensive in the long run. keep rain out of also

If ya wanna keep at marina insurance is outrages. If u by a cheap boat doesn't matter, insurance rules are based on what other boats in marina cost and how fancy of a marina. Example if some boats in marina cost 100k then marina will mandate $1,000,000 insurance policy cause if storm causes your boat to get loose you could be liable for damage it causes to other boats and marina. Minimum policy mandate I found is 100k which is more than car insurance.
