The rope is too long in the video. You can wrap it around your arm and be dragged. My neighbor wrapped his thumb and was lucky it wasn't ripped off.

hey thanks so much for being so candid about NOT using an outboard, most ppl have been saying oh ya its fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...but man they look TOO close for an outboard
