Nice and clear, and fuels the war on "forward or aft" spring-lines. :) I kinda feel the weight of opinion is with yours and your obvious professionalism says - "you're right", I'm with you.. Thanks for a great video on the subject

Great video, crystal clear instruction and very easily followed. My OCD is coming out but I have to point out you should address the pile of tails you have there. Looks like crap and is one of my pet peevs, looks bad and is a tripping hazard.

you're right! you ARE ocd. and no one else needs to "respect" that. you can trip on a dropped soda can in a parking lot, or a clump of weeds. can't imagine how you spend your days....not well, comes to mind.

Tidying up the lines is sort of a separate topic. Agree it's highly desirable and a good practice, for some of the reasons you mention. Generally, taking better care of the equipment is safer and more economical since it will last longer.

Forward Spring line runs forward from boat. When pulled will pull boat forward; prevents movement back.
Aft Sprig line runs aft from boat. When pulled will pull boat aft, prevents movement forward.

is the spring line used on both the port and starboard side of the boat??

usually one side, but both makes sense if you have time/lines. that will keep it from rubbing on dock/posts.

Good, except the terms he uses for forward and aft spring lines may be incorrect. According to Chapman's Guide the forward spring line runs from the vessel to forward, and visa-versa.

Funny - was just having a back-and-forth with a crew member about tying springs last week. I've been searching around for a good text-book definition of how to tie up a boat, and this explained it perfectly. Thanks.
