Yes you can ,the only one I would watch out for is ghost shrimp ,dont mix them with other species they will eat the other shrimp.

Cherry Shrimp are the best for a new beginner, I dont recommend any fish with shrimp ,I know others do but I dont ..the two dont go together IMO .

wow amazing. iv recently set up a shrimp tank. they are amazing. im new to real plants. but giving it a go :) my tank in next to a window but not i direct sunlight. it has a led light. how much light should it have? I currently have it set to 6 hrs in the day. and 6 hrs in the evening. is this enough. would love all the advice you can give me :)

Your window will be more than enough light for it so any additional lighting is for your benefit ..as little or as long as you like ..I have mine on for 12hrs a day :)

Alright I will keep this one short. I would love to try shrimp keeping along side my main tank. It would be simply a small 2.5-gallon tank to keep on my desk. I would use artificial plants and simple aquarium gravel. I would first cycle it with Neon Tetras and then introduce shrimp when I have a fully nitrogen cycled tank as I am aware they are delicate. I would not use live plants. Would this setup work?? and how often would it need cleaning??

Dont listen to that clown on the other channel ,basics of Aquariums in general is that you have to cycle a tank,Fairy Shrimp he claims to have breed thousands of Shrimp but has no videos of it ..look on my last upload and that will answer your question on who to believe ..Happy Shrimp Keeping .

Cycle your tank for a few weeks and you will be fine ...Dont listen to anybody that says you dont have to cycle a tank that is complete rubbish.
Also Only change 1/4 of the tanks volume every second week with water you have aged 24hrs before hand,if you age the water in the same room as the tank chances are the temperature will be the same after a day :)

Healthy looking CRS CBS my friend. I actually owned a fish farm and had about 1500 gallons dedicated to my shrimp setups with that I was guilty of doing the same thing and on occasion would get very dark red shrimp I culled and just called Red Wine or Merlot Shrimp but always disclosed that they were just crossed. I eventually culled them myself but in one 200g tank, it was very difficult. I'd share the links to my videos of it here that I did under another user name back when I owned a company called Oceanpro Aquatics which went out of business in the recession but then it would look like I was trolling your thread so I'll refrain from it :) (I feel your pain in culling one by one for grade especially when crossbreeding occurs). No I didnt add anything under it,thats stuffs really not needed,I do however feed my Shrimp bacterial products because that helps them with digestion and growth ect,The ones I use are Biozyme,BacterAE,Garnelen Toms Life ,which I think is fantastic and thats it .

Its no problem James ,yeah this is the smaller size and yes it did have some Amazonia under it but I dont think its needed.
If I could get more of it I would only use Akadama :)

In America it gets called round Pellia but I am being told that is factually incorrect because its not the same species ..saying that it hasnt been properly identified yet .The other common name for it is Subwassertang :)

I change roughly 15 to 30% water every two weeks , and yes you can keep different colors together but they might crossbreed if you have the same species together .

Which type of Riccia are those green balls? (If Riccia at all) Looks quite a bit thicker than the one i have i my tank.

If there are any fish at all you have to go with something that will breed rather easy like a Cherry Shrimp or something robust like Amano Shrimp.
The Cherry type doesnt have to be the plain one ether,I quit fancy setting up a tank for Bloody Marry Neos because i want that contrast on a dark substrate..at the same time I will order Orange Neos for that same purpose :D

Btw, since this vid was originally about shrimp, i do have a relevant question for ya. I'm about to start cycling a new 170L tank and i wanna go all out on algae control in this one, not that i ever had a 'problem' with algae, but i do love a crisp looking setup. Could you perhaps recommend me a nice shrimp that will meet my requirement? There will be no aggressive fish in this tank, it will be heavy on plants, roots and such with lots of other algae eaters too. Basically an aquascape(ish) tank. :)

Yeah its not a Riccia it belongs to the genus Lomariopsis ,The Germans call it Süsswassertang ,I have been calling it Subwassertang which is probably incorrect :D

haha nice vid Mark, I'm always impressed with the colouration and the quality of your crystals, great job. Mark I've been using albeit trace amounts of a tantora liquid and have seen have seen a noticeable difference in the shrimp activity and general health, do you use anything similar?

Yeah I do when I remember to Alan ,seachems flourish trace,I was using tiny amounts 1mg per 25liters .

+Harry de Vokone Yeah,no more videos of it this year because its been emptied for the winter,in Norway it would be impossible for them to survive outside, I cant even have a pond here because the ice gets meters thick and would kill everything..I will set one up again next year and see what happens..Do you keep shrimp ?

Hello ,this tank is 200ltrs about 70 US gallons but it will hold less water because I dont fill it all the way up ,the plant is subwassertang .
