Nice format, but one suggestion, speed up the transitions between the 1-10. It kinda got awkward. like between 4:29 and 4:35. I'd cut it down to 3-4 seconds instead of 6. I think it would help the pace.

I absolutely love my discus. I got mine at my LFS who gets them from Hans Discus. They are just so beautiful. I do keep mine in a 55 though. So I guess I’m a rule breaker but to be honest I can get a larger tank if they need it. The biggest thing I’ve found is just keeping the temperature really high.

I read somewhere that discus also prefer higher temperature ranges than many other tropicals - like in the upper 80s, which makes cardinals an ideal companion species.

For #1 and #8, since they are line bred to the core, they can adapt to almost any kind of water. It's better to have them acclimated to your water so you won't have problems in the future. However, it is important to check the TDS from your tap first before deciding to keep them. Too much alkalinity may cause harm to their health. 500 TDS is scary. It may mean that it's too alkaline for them.

I agree. I have very hard tapwater and set up a large angelfish/rainbowfish/dwarf cichlid community tank. I cut the tapwater with distilled commercial water and couldn't stop the angels and dwarf cichlids from breeding. But they are right about matching the water the didcus were raised in. There is a range of hardness and pH that is acceptable to them and what they are accustomed to is best.

What do you guys think about the Anoxic Filtration system? I have a 125 with 5 discus and black neon tetras and i was considering adding this to my sump?

Anoxic filtration is an interesting method - used more widely by koi keepers. I like to use a refugium in my sumps - a good place to store and grow extra plants.
