55 Gallon Discus Tank 1 Year Old 12 0

This tank has been running for a year now. Since the last video I have added 6 Corydoras Aeneus, a mixture of 12 neon/cardinal/green-neon Tetras, a blue-eyed bristlenose pleco, and a breeding pair of German Blue Rams. The Mercury and Albino pairs of discus lay eggs on the rock every week or so. The Flamingo females have a never-ending feud and stay away from each other now. No change in equipment or water maintenance. Still doing 50% changes twice a week, and occasionally I'll do an 80%. The discus are probably all 1.5-2 years old now.

With an adult male/female pair in a 55 with 5 sterbais and 2 rams, feeding 3 or 4 times a day, with good filtration (i.e. canister filtration and sponge filtration), I think you can get away with 50% water changes once a week. You might also want to throw in some easy plants to suck up the nitrates. Hope this helps

Discus can be a shy and finicky fish, so housing them in larger groups makes them feel more secure. I would recommend a group no smaller than 5 or 6. If you absolutely must get only 2 discus, a male/female pair would do fine in a 55 with rams and corydoras. They must be a male and female pair however, because a pair of the same sex will fight all the time and stress each other out. You would need to start off with an adult pair, since discus are relatively difficult to sex when they are young.

Thanks! Unfortunately whenever the lights are on the pleco hides in his corner or under the driftwood, so I barely get to see him myself. I will post a video of him if I can. If you are looking for a smaller pleco I recommend this specie of pleco.

Those are some really nice discus and German blues, all have really nice fins &color. Would like to see video on blue eyed bristle nose pleco, really want another nice pleco in my tank
