If you had followed the rest of my videos, you would see I upgraded the Discus into a 135 gallon tank. In my experience, having a bare bottom tank is great for keeping the tank clean, but always keeps the Discus stressed, even my breeding tanks... Once I placed some type of substrate in the tank, they Immediately settled down. I have Never had any bad experience with having my Discus in planted tanks or tanks with Substrate... They grow and thrive! Everyone does things different though. My fish are healthy and happy... Its a shame you don't keep a more natural and comforting set up for your fish. Good luck with yours. Just saying...

you should be growing these out in a bare bottom and no plants. discus that size are next to impossible to grow healthy and nice in a planted tank. its a shame to see nice discus from tony tan being grown out in a tank like that. i just ordered 5 discus from him and setup a separate bare bottom for them. you spend good money on those fish so you should raise them properly. its a shame when people raise discus at that size in a planted tank. good luck with them though.
