A sponge on the end of the filter intake is also a good option to keep any small inhabitants from getting into the filter. Just getting back into the hobby again and love your content in the videos.

So you put fish, crs, rcs in an uncycled tank with fresh ada? poor choices. nothing is needed to cycle ada as it leaches a large amount of ammonia

Hi Jacob! I really love your content and I'm also going to start a high tech planted tank soon. I wanted to ask you why you aren't using an inline CO2 diffuser or a reactor anymore? Had any problems with them?

Hi! I like inline diffusers and reactors, however they're a bitch to set up and they can only work with either a canister filter or a pump hooked up to them. Its such a pain plumbing all that stuff and hoping it doesn't leak. Not to mention allot of the reactors or inline stuff currently being produced is made so cheaply out of brittle plastic and they don't last. Its just so much easier to stick a diffuser in a tank and let it run, it may not diffuse the co2 100% but its just enough to give the plants what they need to grow good. Thanks for watching.

love the setup by the way, though it would have been cool to have added a little variation on the substrate and perhaps been a little more creative maybe on the gradient of your substrate to add depth to it?

However, each to our own and really a setup is a very personal choice based on ones own preference.

I find that when I do a setup I always find myself a little short on cash after the tank is setup and I'm ready for planting and fish haha.....

just do a DIY polisher using a waterbottle, fluff, and a power head you prolly have laying around... put it in over night and take it out in the morning if you get too much debris in the tank

I'm not a planted tank guy, but I do enjoy your videos. Just wanted to say, why don't you remove that cover from the aquaclear filter intake and put a prefilter sponge on it? No shrimp can get sucked in and you have some mechanical filtration. I bought a a large pack off eBay for a few bucks.

What are your kessil light settings if you don't mind me asking. I have a similar set up except I have an aquaclear 110 on mine with biohome media and have my co2 right under the intake going Into the propeller. I havnt noticed bubbles really and my ph controller drops to my desired level in no time at all.

Yes it is, I like it this way. The plants have plenty of nutrients to sink their roots into. I don't plan on adding hardscape. Thanks for watching :)
