Tbh just got into 48" length tanks in the last year and I have Magniflow 360's. I like the ability to swap types of mediums and with 5 trays I can load one with black water medium socks.

When I clean my fluval 306, I always connect the output to a hose pipe and flush the canister for 30 seconds before putting back in the tank to avoid any gunk going back in the tank. I bit of a pain, but worthwhile

Love Rena canisters! Tons of room for media and very easy to customize with media. Idk why fluval makes you use 4 different foam inserts instead of two full pieces with different PPI

oh Dustin where was this video 6 months ago when i did that to my 75 that i was re-setting up OMG i thought our sewer line backed up in to the house!!! luckily no fish so no death just an unhappy wife :( been using the sunsun love it though with the arthritis kicking in HOB seem to work the best for my hands sigh dont get old my man

I love me some Fluval! There isn't a better canister filter out there IMO!!! I have run a 305, 406, and 2 Fx5's...kick myself everyday for selling the bulk of them when I downsized before moving last time!

I have run the 305 on a 55 gal for more than 10 years without so much as a hiccup.

I had that same filter on my 35 gallon, I changed it out for a tray system after 4 months. I feel like Fluval is the Windex of filtration. Big name poor results. Buy Libmans glass cleaner.

Great tip! We do this after prolonged power outages or we risk huge ammonia spikes when the power comes back on.

Two fluval 406. Flawless, quiet, great flow, easy.
My fave, though has to be my mini diy PVC canister for 5g cube betta tank, with a $3 pump. Working now for 2 years.

I like my 206 I got from you last year. My only complaint is the seals don’t seal tight, so air bubbles shoot out into the aquarium. Common issue with the Fluvals. I looked it up on YouTube and found a “fix” that helps, but doesn’t solve the problem completely.

The other issue has been what we saw in this video. A lot of junk still enters the water column after cleaning. This last cleaning (a couple of days ago), I tried what you did on the no maintenance tank and took the output and flushed out a bucket or so of whatever nasty was left in the canister before shooting it back into the tank. It worked. No more poisoning the teeny fish with nasty stuff.

Several years ago, I rocked some Fluval 303's, and a diatom Marineland 350. Now I use strictly Rena Filstar's (now owned by API). To me, I love the huge amount of media capacity and the Filstar's high flow rates. But you can't go wrong with fluval.

John Williams was looking to see if anyone else used Rena canisters. Very customizable with the media and high flow rates. And used them for probably 8 years and not had a leak

I have three Eheim 2217’s and have never had any issue with any of them. They seem to be bulletproof after five maybe six years of use.

Own a eheim pro with the trays. seems fair bit easier to clean instead of dealing with 4 sponges on a side tray. in the end its probably all the same. only requirement i have with canisters is don't leak. short of that if it runs its a win.

Once, I shutdown a tank and left its filled, classic Eheim, canister filter unplugged and sealed for weeks. The gas produced by bacteria bugled the top and literally popped off the metal clips. The smell...

Oh yeah? I was watching your video yesterday while filling up my 75, and juuust happened to look over RIGHT before I flooded the tank. Another couple seconds and I would be mopping. CRISIS averted!
