Any of 4 bulbs would be way more then enough for low light plants. Make sure get GE color exchange lights

same size and same kinds discuses like mine + the angels,,,cool i had 5 angels 1x1 and 2x1 and no one can believe it two males with one female angel fishes laid eggs and i get lots of babies from bought pairs but i cannot get babies from discuses,they laid eggs many times but no results good luck

Lovely taank, what is the fitting on the inlet acting as a spray. There all nice discus but there are very nice examples amongst them, personally I wouldn't have the arrowana, and I would read up on having the angels and make your own decision.

thank you for your comments, my advice is not rush to put to fish into tank after your set up done. please let the tank run for good 2-3 weeks please do water changes every week and please do not put chemicals in to water. i do not add anything in to water at all nothing please just let the fish alone. do not disturb them any questions please ask me. i will try to do my best for u. good luck

This has to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful tanks I have ever seen Your good planning has paid off in a beautiful show quality tank I get my discus tomorrow It has been a long time coming i have been studying them for years I have R/O water on hand and I will be combining that with declorinated tap water using PRIME Our tap water has a natural PH of between 6.0 and 6.5 so I think we should be good Do you have any advice Your tank inspires me

So I'm considering constructing my own based on the DIY styrofoam/cement/epoxy processess I find on YouTube. I was interested to see that you use 3 Ehiem canisters. Is this for redundancy, backup in case of failure....

@napoleontak please know some basics about fish keeping before having any other fish. read alot about them on forums etc.. then get the fish. oscars grow up very FAST and i mean it so make sure have a big tank.dont say ooh will buy a big tank after they got bigger! buy the big tank biggining. you are right they are hardy but they need good care like other fish. they know their owners. as i said if you are a bigginer do not get discus bcz u would kill them all in first week or so

@napoleontak well i have some experince but i am not expert discus breeder.discuses arent that difficult. all you have to do change the water evry week or so and know some basics about them warm calm water etc. i have had many different fish also oscars too.they are alot of fun. one day if i want to get rid off duscuses i would definately get oscars not the other agrasive fish. i love them when they are baby until they get bigger. onece they are big they arent fun anymore.they make alotof mass

im really into caring into fish but i would really not buy a discus. i think its one of the most dumb fish to buy unless you are an actual expert on fish care. i wouldnt buy these because their expensive and unhardy. only thing good about them is their good looks but then again. Im into fish that look wild like an oscar and gars. Thats why i hate saltwater but nice fish and you seem to be a fish expert.

I thought having Angel fish with Discus is bad, because angels may get disease which transfer to discus. But then again, your fish are awesome. :) Did u have to "quarantine" them yourself before adding them to the tank?

@3000carriers wood has not much to do for the leraness of water. it makes it little brown that all but that goes away after a year or soo. that means wood doesnt change the color of water anymore. i think u should keep the wood in the water to help to soften and balance the ph lavel of water. it isnt realy importint but it helps. the one i have in tank is realy. everything is in the tank is real nothing is fake. i use 3 big ehiem brand filter. they work 24/7 nonstop. but if u have only one is ok

@CKcoolz cichlids love rocks...discus are cichlids so technically they would thrive there, in my experience malawais and tanganakins do better with the rocks and discus like wood...but i've seen discus lay eggs on heaters, plant leaves, and aquaruim silicon sealant...so i thin it's all good for them...they are fish, they are stupid.

@DiscusKev thank u for your comment. as i said to other people to aro stayed in the tank untill it was 6 inches long. he went to my firineds 500 gallon tank so discuses got more room in the tank. i dont think my tank is overstocked now. if u look at second video of mine. some of the fish are gone. thanks again

@roshan2946 hi roshan. i do not know how much u know about fish keeping so i cant tel u if it is difficult for u or not. generaly they need realy good care... good quality water, highy protein food, stressless room, large tank.. etc. you have to have some fish keeping experience. these fishes are not for bigginers. there are tones of good online infos but dont fool yours self. if u dont have eny experience do NOT try to keep discus fish.

@gamness i am using 3 eheim filters without corbon in them. just ceramic rings and sponges at all. i dint have any problem so far. bcz my tank is huge i cant only use sponde boble filter. people says do this do that but i do what i think it is right according to my knowlage and my experince. i do clean those filters once in every 3-4 months. thats about it. biological filtration issue is done. thank u if u need help ask me plz

That's an amazing discus aquarium you have and great selection of disucs as well. If you do not mind me asking, what sort of biological filtration are you using? I read that canister filtration is not the best choice, and a person looking to start a discus aquarium is best off with a bio wheel filter. What are your thoughts?

@bilalsolmaz555 same here, I have never measure my ph and my 3 tanks are very healthy. The one time I did measure it I ended up killing a whole 30gallon community tank because I read the stupid thing wrong. I have a 15gallon with a DIY background and a 10gallon with a DIY background. My 30 does not have one yet.

i dont think that big fish is friendly with the discus fish, i remember my friend had one and it killed most of the discus fish he had

Oh that's good :) At the pet store there is this huge 1.5 ft arrowana and nobody bought it yet :( poor creature Y_Y it's like $100.00 I'd definitely want to buy it but I don't even have a tank big enough for it T_T

hi thanks for your comments. arawona and discuses did grow up together. so never had aggressivness problem untill aro got realy big. he is already gone. i have only discuses and angels in tank now.

Reason I asked was because I have a arowana I've had him for bout a yr now.. And he about 14-16 inches long and I was thinking bout added discus because I have such a large tank. Cuz the tankmates that in there now are pretty dull

out come was discuses started living in peace without stress around them.that means do grow up healty, they get bigger, color becomes brillant. thas all about it. take care

my aro is gone already. he was a badass guy. if u wanna add color then add different color discuses yellow , green, blue... luckly they have many variaties in color. take my advise dont put anyother fishes in to tank. maybe angels will be ok. other than that nothing will work in long term fish keeping .

@anthonypolkjr13 they r right!. do not put any other fish into discus . i put arowana. he was ok untill he get little big. then all problems...i never had stingray. but i saw pp have them with discuses, i do not think they had long time. my thank has angels and discuses only. there is a saying discus lives discus. it is true. this fishes are very shy and picky. they scare from avrything moves around them. so DO NOT PUT STINGRAY.

I love this set up I was thing bout doing this exact same setup but I have a stringray also. Think you can give any suggestion because all my local fish store think I'm nuts!

@jokd74nsd it is ok untill aro gets around 4-5 month old after then u should move it away. bcz arowana gets very agresive and jumps around. discuses dont like that.

@AEngleSaex they should be eating live food when they r small once they grow up they would be fine with aro pallets or any other pallet food. mine was very picky he eats only hikari arowona pallets. nothing else!

thanks for your comment. arowona was doing fine. he seems kind of out of place. bcz he was watching me when i was recording with the cam. he was looking curious. thats all. he got excited when he saw me getting closer the tank with cam. arowona is in a 500 gallon tank now. he needed biger tank so i gave him to friend of mine. i hope he is happier now. thanks bye

Wow man, incredible tank! One of the best discus tanks I've ever seen. But what truly stands out the most is that gorgeous platinum white angel. They are my favorite. But is it a good idea to have an arowana in there with those discus? He seems kinda out of place. He's gorgeous though nonetheless.

Well, i KNOW that. I have the exact same thing and you can find the "Water Level" on the tip of the heater, which means the water can't go ABOVE it.....

plants do good in sand too without any problem. sand is carabian fresh water sand. it is special kind for only discuses. jager heater is FULLY submersible. it is ehiem brand. it is german made not american garbage!

it is good but u should feed them with other kinds of food to. such as blood worms, flakes, palets. personaly i dont realy like to use beefhearts unless they are very young. beafhearts makes water cloudly and it get suck into filter before fishes it them. so try to use something slow sicking food. it works better

thats true. but you have to feed them with high content protein food. otherwise they wont grow up, they got stock up in their bodies become like a midged!

thank you. eventough i am very new to discus fish keeping. i think i did good job. i had alot exceperience on the other fishes such as oscars, gold fishes, sharks, pacus, guppies.... i keept many different kind of fishes so far but discus needs far more experience and also care.
