I'm curious about your filtration. Obviously you have the sponge filters, and prefilters on your intakes for your canister, but how do you have your canister filter/s setup? How many gph and stages? Whats in each stage? Thanks in advance

Thai Aquascapes I'm now a member on simply discus and theve told me what to do now I'm trading in my canister they told me the same as you and plus with the fx6 when it turned it self of every 12 hours to prime itself when it turns back on gives me micro bubbles all the time so I think I'm gunna go with sponge filters and I dnt have the room for a sump or would most definitely use that

There are many variations in a set up for discus or for any fish for that matter. If you want the best filtration then go with a sump. I'm currently in the process of building one myself. But if you ask me. I like the hang on back filters and sponge filters because they are much easier to clean. I find that because the Fx6 is such a pain in the as to clean I don't do it as frequently as I should.

If your buying large adult discus then it's fine but if you plan to grow discus I don't recommend a canister.

ash 92 fluval fx6 is a great filter. i have 1 running in my 125 gallon

ash 92 to be honest i love sponge filters. very easy maintenance. canistera are a pain to clean especially with discus because they need a very clean environment.

Are you using 100% RO water? are you using Seachem Discus trace elements ?

Also I do use equilibrium to stabalize my ph. stability is key. ph swings are very bad with discus.

I don't use RO. The water I have here in BC is very clean.

It's actually painted. You can notice the bottom brace at the bottom where you can't paint it. You have to use a paint roller or the paint wont stick properly.
