im going insane about this

my lights i have 38 wats 2 lights ONe blue/white one red IS the red even doing something ?
on my Aponogeton ulvaceus it seems to be working okay but my java fern seems to be dying

whats better 2 blue lights or one red one blue ?
its kinda driving me insane XD some plants seem to do better in blue they bend and aponogeton seems to like red and my anubias seems to like blue =[

im confused and never really see red lights in the netherlands they all say you need them but do you ?

If I remember right, Justin recommends 6500 lights or close to that…
Just bought his book last night and haven't got that far yet…

Does anyone remember the name of that youtube video where he recommends the lighting amount as in 6500??

Just bought a 55 Gallon. And want to buy some lights for it that work great!

Maybe you already have a video in your archives already (I'm new to your channel), but if you don't, can you walk us through setting up a dirt tank with your 55 that you're setting up right now? You've got me wanting to do a dirk tank setup.

T5HOs are awesome. I'm running 2 bulbs (out of 4) 4" above my 60G so I'm at medium lighting with pressurized CO2. I'm also running 6500K (daylight rated) and the plants love it. Never used any other rated bulb. Also don't use more than 2 bulbs if the lights are gonna sitting on top of tank otherwise all you will be growing is algae instead of plants since you will be at high lighting

You know, you should do a start to finish on a tank, like get a 55 gal or something and start with cleaning the tank, dirting it, filling it up, putting chemicals etc, and than aqua scape it. Considering some people just aren't smart enough to figure out your videos even though it simple; but yea the whole thing in multiple videos. -Tim Folsom

you could really start working with the more challenging species like HC with that fixture but not without a CO2 injection...it would be like taking steroids but not eating

5-7000k produces rapid growth, 4000k bulbs are neutral and are a balanced bulb, 2000-3000k bulbs(pink/reds) are only ment to supplement 4-7000k bulbs

@zackdmb i have 3 HOT5 on my 55 with little algae 3watts/gallon, plants are rocking! IMO its doable

I had 4000k bulbs and plants still grew fine! With 5000k plants grown a bit faster though

10,000K to the front of the tank(gets light to the bottom) and 6,700K next. 2 of each is what I use on each side of my 130 for a total of 8 bulbs.

without co2 i would only run 1 of those T5HO....i ran 2 on a 55 for 8 hours and i started to get algae like crazy. 4 on a 55 is WAY TOO MUCH light, probably on a 75 too.

I have a 90 gallon with a 35 gallon sump. It is dirted with a bag of flourite capped with 2.5 inches of black sms. I have 4 54w 6500k t-5 bulbs with CO2 injection. On day 5 after it has been dirted. I will keep you posted on how it turns out!
