Boiling water is very simular to using an RO unit to filter water. Both these processes will kill the bad but also the good effects found in water. I highly recommend you treat your water with a buffer before adding it to your tank.

Being a community tank i didn't expect any of the young to survive. There are cory-dora's (cat fish) and also tetras in the tank. I don't know the exact age of these fish but they are both adults. I feed them freeze dried black worms, frozen black worms and also frozen brine shrimp. The wood doesn't require cleaning.

The temp is on average 30oc for breeding. Also to help encourage discus to lay a slight/sudden drop in temp can help. This can be achieved by changing the tank water.

what is the temp. you keep them in to make them breed? Do you use any medication to help keep the eggs from fungus attack?

were there any viable young from this spawn? what other fish are in the community tank? how old are the discus? what are you feeding them? what kinds of plants are in the tank. looks beautiful! i like the wood. is it hard to keep the wood clean?

All the water used in my discus tank is rain water from a 5000L rain water tank. Town water requires alot of treatment and in a sense doesn't hold the same benifits as natural rainwater. Some choose to heat the water before adding it but I don't as I only change 15-25% at a time. The temperature difference created during this infact helps the discus to want to spawn. HTH
