A question for you Ram nerds: Is the German Blue Ram just a slightly bluer version of the wild ram or does the body have a different shape to it? Rams seem out of proportion these days compared to the rams of my youth; of course, it may just be senility at this point.

+Catfish Cave I'm not entirely sure, but maybe you're thinking of a different type of wild ram like a Bolivian ram? Roughly how many years ago are you referring to? There is of course a good chance that since the rams have become popular aquarium choices (at some point after they were first discovered/described in the late 40s/early 50s) they've been bred for certain characteristics.

Catfish Cave the wild rams I've had were a similar shape to the Germans I've kept, the spangling and pronounced yellow could be seen in the wilds after a few months in favorable conditions and good food. Otherwise the Germans are on another level color wise.

Hope The rams will make it &electris that being said where are the electrics blue balloons Rams !! i had some of them ; they alll past sad but true ! also pair cacatuoides ! &others néon golds they had hudge colours & also the sweetest peacefull ones so cue !

+Kevin Monahan I'm in Suffolk. Pets warehouse in copaigue and their other store in the Carle place area are usually my go to stops. Carribean blue in the bayshore area is also nice.

I also have a pair of German Blue Rams. It's not so easy to find some really healthy ones here in Germany. You could find them in every LFS, but the quality is not that good. Always nice to have the contact to a breeder directly. Your new fishes are looking fantastic!

+Martins Fische it's about the same here. Often available in the stores but I certainly like better stock from a breeder! You'd think since they're called "german" blue rams that they would be easier to find in germany lol!

Rich's Fishes sadly I’m in the UK so that’s not possible, I’d like a breeding set up for them, at the moment they’re in a community tank. It’s not ideal.

yes the electric blues will cross breed with the german blues; and yes Coralbandit did have some of those crosses. The ultimate plan will be to separate them as they (hopefully) pair off. If the two electric blues pair off with each other (truth be told they have laid eggs already!) they will likely get their own tank as will any others that pair off! If you do decide to get another (I probably would!) then I sure hope you reach out to Coral Bandit!
