does denitrate works effectively to bring down nitrates in along run? the anaerobic bacteria needs oxygen free environment to bring down nitrates...i dont think its possible with any filter setup with rich oxygen

Hi Rahul,
Bit a different question. Why do you prefer BB tank for Discus? Actually aquascapped tank looks better.
At present my tank is BB tank & thinking of adding substrate sugar sand, bog woods, anubias.

Hi.. In Bare bottom tanks it's easy to maintain the water parameters required for Discus.. Also Discus are bottom feeders so foods like heart mix, sterilised blood worms and pellets tend to go under the substrate when they try to eat... Which eventually will cause a big ammonia spike in tank... So I aviod substrate..
