Nice Plant aquarium. However, the discus are in poor health. They look sick and stunted. Discus are not meant to be kept in a planted aquarium. Rarely do you see any healthy discus in one.

@NYYROCK Hey I love fish and nice combo! I recomend you add a pleco in the mix. He will keep your glass clean. Because Neon/Cardnil tertra are schooling get about 10-15 of them. Get 5-7 mollys or platys or swordtails and buy about 3 dwarf gourami.

I have some questions Does sand or gravel work better for plants? Do you need plant fertilizer? Do you use a co2 generator ,what kind, and how do you diffuse it?

They all Pair or they have buddy groups. If theres a loner, then that fish gone!

awesome tank man, I'd like to have a similar one someday : ) , but yeah I noticed that Cory catfish you have is going from side to side on the front of the tank, I have a 29 gal and one Albino Cory(thinking about adding more), and it regularly does the same thing, do you have any idea why they do this??

I am going to set one of these tanks up this summer and have just started research. I love your setup. HOw big is the tank. Are you on any forums? Do you use a co2 tank?

Nah thanks 4 the offer though. I hate checking the waters hardness and pH. And making sure its ok. I like africans cuz they are easier to keep. U just set the tank up and forget it. I dont check the pH or nothing like that. Its kinda stressfull, and u have to spend alot of money on chemicals.

@fishkeeper456 Hey mr. Fishkeeper, couldnt help but to notice ur comments here. At first i thought discus fish where kinda gay. But i guess they are pretty neat looking. They kinda look like angel fish!! But are they tough enough to hang with African cichlids.

As long as the fish are not small enough to be eaten or large enough to attack the discus.Discus are extreamly sensitive.

i have some discus and one just recently died from not being able to eat. One of my other discus is attacking them when they close to the worms. Does this trait go away after time or do they always do this?

I would not recommend a small clutch of discus living in a tank smaller then 70 gallons. Water quality will be tricky and these fish demand water on the soft side.

that is awesome i wish i had live plants but i cant since i have silver dollars but i love my silver dollars so i gave up plants for them check out my aquarium its called 45 gallon freshwater community aquarium the thumbnail is a pic of the tank with a pink flower in the bottom left hand corner of the tank

I was told that if the discus had the dark stripes on them they were under stress. When they are not stressed the bars almost dissapear. What is the temp of your tank?

:) Sphinx, sphinx. I'm not going to boder my self by doing this - there's nothing that I have to prove to somebody. Just said my opinion. Other thing, I saw a film of future, and now I could say yes, discus are good and well grown (didn't notised second viedo at first)

Discus - is fish which is interesting to keep, grow and watch to. But about this viedo... discus are too little, with bad shape and size. No colour and I never say that their happy. Even plants could look much better. Good luck in trying to improve something.

Nice tank and discus. Do you add co2 to the water? I recently added co2 to my tank but i'm not sure if its ok to turn of the air pump. Thanks for the help
