same here...these aren't wild discus, they are bred and survive fine in this constant ph those who don't know kill their fish by jacking with the parameters, not by higher ph

discus can live in a wide range of parameters . ive had hundreds of discus for years and now have a 6ft x 2 foot tank full of them at a ph of 8.2 and they have bred in this water fine i have fry growing on now

7.9 ?...that is not good for Discus at all...more like African Cichlid parameter.

That is a ton of filtration for a 72...I guess you have to in order to maintain good water quality with the feeding you are doing. Isn't that too much water movement for Discus?

GREAT TANK. I have the same setup 72 gallon bow. fluval 405, and two aqua clear 110's and a whisper 300. I went with 5 blue diamonds and 4 dark angels a cascade of blue's. I power feed. I use HANS food from HANSDISCUS. I use live blood worms, and some frozen. went from 2.5 inch to a healthy thick hand feeding 4 inchs in 5 weeks. Try hand feeding to eliminate shyness. Filtration is key when over feeding or lots of water changes. power feeding, and a large grow out tank= success

How do u do the water changes when you are away? Is it necessary to do daily water changes just for a few months or is it a permanent thing to commit to?

Central Ohio Discus is located in Galena, OH. It's in the Northeast part of Columbus right next to Hoover Reservoir. Which by the way is about 5 minutes from my house and the best fishing lake in the area!

I couldn't find a way to message you, but I want to start a planted tank, and have no idea where to buy substrate and from as far as I could see on your site, you dont sell any. Also I have already started the cycle on my new 20g tank and its entirely full.....Is there ANY way I can put soil in without draining my tank. If not, what plants would be be able to survive without soil? Again, sorry for the way off topic comment.

Great video... It could've been more informative if water maintenance were to be discussed. I assume that with all that feeding comes many or even daily water changes is a must!

no? what are you talking about neon/cardinal tetras aren't speedy or anything there pretty calm.. barbs danios are speedy
NotaPro

I would not recommend putting neon tetras with the Discus. The discus will be stressed out from the sharp and speedy movements of the neons.
