It's not wise to release invasive non native plants like water hyacinths into a pond like that. Instead you could have planted some Cardinal flower or native pickerel.

+Dustin's Fish Tanks I think I saw a piece of duckweed when you placed in one of the plants you brought. If duckweed takes off it might shade out some of your underwater plants. Same goes with the water hyacinth. Good luck!

Did you ever check back on the plants you put into the pond? Water cabbage and water Hyacinth are bad about taking over, in Alabama they are considered an invasive species. But just curious how everything faired.

What is it with everybody saying this is illegal, he's on a farm here in Kentucky. I think there are a lot worse things a guy could be doing than play on with his plants in a watering hole for cows, on private property. Lmao get a grip, I think its cool trying to find a way to maybe expand business. I actually found some pretty badass plants in one of our 8 ponds on our property. It was growing submersed so I cleaned it, tried in my 100 gallon an its been thriving for about 3 months.

No floating on a tube? LOL. So what I saw could be taro? I think our State intentionally planted it or maybe it is some native cousin because where I go the water is protected, so I can't imagine they would do that. I also collected some plant that looks a lot like Limnophila, but its emersed growth is way weird. Awesome video Dustin, we all need more outside adventures now that it is heating up. Your viewers need t be very careful. In South Carolina, for example, merely possessing water hyacinth and any number of invasive species is illegal and subject to significant fines. If someone in this state did what you just did, private pond or not, they would be in significant legal trouble. I have no idea what the laws in Kentucky are so maybe you are safe. Just be very careful!

How deep is it?? Of its deep enough to not overfreeze I would throw some hybrid bluegills in there for leech control, they hardly ever breed (they are 95% males), and they have large mouths to take care of larger prey like leeches.

Urea fertilizer is a stable nitrogen. Its used as the most common fertilizer and looks like white pellets that cool water when mixed.

Great looking lake Dustin but I don't like the leeches. You can add fish that are bigger the the leeches and they will eat the leeches.
I wouldn't be wearing flip flops if there snakes around there.

Please be carful with exotics. In the south (in my case Texas) plants like hyacinth, water lettuce, and salvinia are now illegal to posses and buy due to their introduction in the wild from the hobby. I've also seen some lakes that are beginning to have tarro everywhere.

A lot of people keep native fish and when they get too big they release them after they have lived in ur home aquarium and that is illegal unless you release them into a private pond

Water lettuce and water hyacinth are actually illegal in Wisconsin since May 1. According to WI DNR there has been evidence of these plants surviving the winter, which is insane because WI gets very cold.
