There are basically four ‘species’ of discus, all of which begin with the scientific name “Symphysodon…”. They are considered to require a higher level of care than other aquarium fish. The defining quality of discus fish is their size, with fully grown reaching lengths of around 7 inches. Aquarium temperature for Discus is around 82°F - 88°F (28°C-31°C). Ideal pH level for discus is around 6.5 and water hardness should be 1dH - 8dH. They are carnivorous ,so like to eat blood worms, beef heart and then pellets and flakes.
