I feed them new life spectrum, and some blood worms when I want them to breed

Great to see a shop owner who is foremost a fish lover and admirer Paul, great job mate and great to see your clips trying to help others get into the fish hobby and to help keep in the hobby. I have been in the industry for only 20 + years before I bought my own shop and I have a lot of respect for any shop, hobbiest or breeder who takes the time to help out others. They will often spawn mainly one sex if in the wrong pH

that is common behavior, but you will need to add more to over come it. your group is too small

I just got back from a trip to Singapore where a massive amount of Discus are bred and I went to many farms and they all they still kept in very acid water! Most Discus in Australia come from Singapore where they are sill in very acid water! If you are lucky enough to get supply from a local breeder that has slowly adjusted the fish then you will be some what ok. I get a shipment of Discus every week and I can tell you that if I introduce them into a tank with alkaline water they die!

Right...by nature...like a boatload of generations ago...therefore an acidic PH is not required unless you have wild caught Discus.

While that is true, they are still by nature an acidic water fish.

You are mistaken about the PH ...Discus today are generations removed from their wild caught brethren and do not require a PH of 6...and that includes all the color variations you have in this tank..except the wild caught one. Disus routinely thrive from a PH of 6 to 7.5 and indeed do spawn regularly. Ask any breeder.

The solid colours were not even around when I was last keeping fish. The blue and red are spectacular and rival marine coral fish for beauty. Amazing.
