Hey guys, in this video I wanna show you what I got to help out with the snails. Those who watched my previous videos may have noticed that I had loads of pest snails. After weeks of picking them up by hand I got fed up and went for the heavy weights :) I was not sure really what will happen as puffers don't have the best reputation and my tank is not empty...but, it has been about a week now and everyone seems to mind their own business so, i'm pleased with that...Guys from the store I got him/her in were kind enough to take him/her back if there were problems. so this is very interesting keep me posted. Is this water brackish? Im not a fan of the puffer myself but i admire the fish person who has one its tons of work i see on many channels here on you tube

+willy wonka o.k..some of the bigger ones i found could have been about that size..so from what i can see right this moment, got about a week or so supply in my small tank..

no i didn't mean crushing them for him to eat, it was more of a disposal trial, i crushed few to see what would happen and lemon tetra started to like it so now i have to figure out how to put them in alive without tetra trying it :) and how big are those pond snails? mine are tiny

i feed my puffer 4 pond snails a day. 2 in the morning 2 in the eveninig. u dont have to crush the snail...just throw them in and thats it. its even better if u feed him snails alive and with shell coz they need to grind their beak so it doesnt grow 2 big (yes they have a beak :P). + when u put in the snails alive ull see the hunting instinct of the puffer and its rly fun 2 watch how they prey on snails.
ime puffers are not aggresive, i have 2, 1 in 35 gal and 1 in 8 gal tank althought i had problems with agression twards my shrimp in 8 gal when i got my first one coz he was a picky eater. Like i said mine only eat snails and bloodworms (which i didnt know at the time) and NOTHING ELSE. all in all these guys over time will recognise their owner and will beg for food every time u'll walk by your aquarium. so cute.

hi willy..that is really good to hear as I don't really wanna give him back, at the same time, I can't have him biting my other fish either but so far, same as you, he just does his own thing..as for the snails, luckily (or unfortunately) I got them in the other two tanks as well so, there will be a supply..do u know roughly how many a day? also, weirdest thing, every time I've tried to drop the snail in from the top, as u would food, my lemon tetra eats it?..I've crushed them before I put them in, but sometimes she won't even spit the shell..

i have a puffer in a community tank and there are no problems whatsoever. he just ignores the other fishes.
as for snails... he will eat them up so fast that i recommend pulling some of them out and try to reproduce them in another thank coz they are fuzzy eaters and apart from snails and bloodworms my puffer doesnt eat anything else.

hey Deon, no, just normal water,tap..yeah it took me 3 days to put him in there after I brought him home. I just couldn't decide but thought, well, if there's problems they'll take him back so, let's try.. I know it's probably not ideal, but I didn't know what to do with those snails anymore and I didn't like the fact that I always have to put hands in the tank to pick them up. I just wonder what will happen after the snails ran out ;)
