Not sure if it's been said already, but something to help you justify changing your fish room around is that the display tanks wouldn't be (just) for your own personal enjoyment, but rather they are for marketing/advertising.

Do you have any guppies? I want to get into breeding fish and I figured that guppies would be the best to start out with! Also I love your content, keep up the good work!

Hope you can do a video of safe rocks to put in an aquarium. I've gathered rocks along the Minnesota north shore Lake Superior and not sure what kind I have.I think have a Basalt type??/

Hoping you see this... Mikey from AntsCanada has set up a paludarium for a weaver ant colony. He has a few types of shrimps in the water portion. What would be a good Asian nano fish that is would like to eat insects but not eat the shrimp? Maybe you can check out his new video to see exactly what I am talking about. Would love to have an expert opinion so he could have the best chance of success as it is the first time attempting this kind of setup for ants.

Would u really want to put quarantine tanks over display? What about water dripping? Cross contamination?
Rachel O'leary
Rachel O'leary - 6 years ago
in an ideal world no but generally what i do is put fish in QT in low tanks then move them around as they are clear. I would only have displays in a portion of the fish room.

Hey Rachel , Sorry I missed the live stream with you yesterday , but I have a huge question maybe that you can help with .. I am getting a 30 gallon aquarium from my brother because he can't keep it moving to his new place , my problem is that I live 3 hours away from him and its stocked full of live bears and such .. Whats a good way for me to be able to transport the fish and snails til i can get them back to my home and start setting back up the aquarium .. I thought about just moving the over in a 5 gallon bucket pr something and just draining the water level down to be able to move the aquarium in tack so all that i have to do is refill it when i get bk home .. Also it has a hang on the back filter as well as a canister filter .. is there a way to keep the bacteria alive in the canister filter so that when i do get it all bk here and set up that it doesnt go through a new tank syndrome ...? I know i rambled lol but hopefully you understand what i'm trying to ask and Thanks a lot in advance for you time and advice ... Love your live streams and vids keep up the great work ..

Those Rainbow Shiners are stunning, are they a species that ever end up on your for sale list? I've heard very little about their breeding habits other than they scatter eggs on the substrate, do you have any more detailed info?

Rachel, there's something I've been wondering for a while now. I know you got into YouTubing because Joey encouraged you, and I love the content you put out and all the experience and knowledge you share with us. However, I wonder if you actually enjoy doing it. Do you like connecting with your community of viewers, and is it a rewarding experience? You seem to be so busy all the time, I wonder how you handle it all without becoming too stressed. In any case, I hope you find the experience rewarding and that it has helped you grow your hobby and business. Sending happy thoughts and love from Ohio!

Hi Rachel, I have my cycled 75, heavy planted, scaped tank. I put 3 pair of GB Rams in two weeks ago from my local fish store. They are so fun to watch....super cute! My temp is 81-82, ph 6.4. Right now, nitrates are 5.0 ppm. My question is....at what ppm on Nitrates should I change water and at what percentage amount. Also is it cool to add black neons with them? I love their directional swimming you’re showing. Thanks for any help. Love all your videos

i would love to see you in time build an outside building for your retail, and them use the basement to expand your personal fish, and give you the space to try a few other interesting things

for one I'd love to see (for example) a large central square tank, like 500 gallon or something, but with nano fish, and different habitats within the same tank, (i think you'd really enjoy that, and it would make some interesting spotlights for sure)
and just the stuff you could do, it would be inspiring and insightful

I am not clear on the lineage of the orange laser corydoras. Are they line-bred corydoras Aeneas or are they a distinct species? If the Aeneas and orange were kept together, would they hybridize?

Well, I like the idea of the new rack so you have more tanks and since you do water changes every day anyway, 15s sound like they'd be fine. And I like the idea of having some display tanks. But if you do all those on the right AND those large ones on the left, I would think it would take tooo much of the bzness tanks away. Can you get away with either only the large ones on the left OR the tiered ones on the right? [fascinating about the color change on the green neons]

ordinary cooked ground beef would be interesting fish food. It's cooked, flavored and breaks into small pellet size. The rooms light reflections, small project to film fish. Dont change the layout of tanks if this gets boring. Start exercising and yoga
