Thanks for your reply. Yes you are right. But in my tank because i feed my discs beefheart and a lot nitrate goes up fast and ph goes down fast to around 6. Thats what i meant. I need to do more water changes but i cant. This is dangerous, right? This is not good ph. The disc are affected badly after i make a big w/c in this case, right? What do you think?

I see what you mean. Ph can be affected by the increase of ammonia, I.e. Fish waste. The key is to keep the Ph stable. I would advise you to ensure that the fresh water you put in during water change to have same ph and temperature with that of existing water in your tank. This way you minimize the level of stress for your fish. You can store the fresh water in a large bucket for a few days with peat. Hope this helps: )

ph is high because of the high nitrate which is not good for discus. right?

High ph does not necessarily mean high nitrate. Ph is simply the hardness of water. Discus prefers low ph around 6 by nature which can be achieved by placing peat in the filter.
