Imagine original indigenous people got hold of psych wards and run them like pros.
The contradiction is they wouldnt need or have them but if they did they would diagnose everyone ill.
Thescenario here is that those people having been taught the ropes of psyche wards would then be sick themselves and would have lost touch with their ways to ba able to share them.
Here is an expert in bush craft, lets put him in the city to teach everyone.
Everyone takes note from a lecture and becomes an expert on bushcraft?
Here a certificate, you are now qualified to drag people out of homes and jab them with some chemicals someone ekse has concocted that was taught the same way as you.
Oh look some people who know better are cutting heads because we sent people under the guise of religeon to do the same thing there even though they were better without us but we know better because of thousands spent on university and text books which gives us a right.

And how he deals with the feces in each tank every day...?? I don't see any UV filter system so it menas every rack is expoused to potencial diseases outbreaks

I doubt with this being so old that I'll get a response, but I'm just dying to know the answer. I'm curious as to where the pump pulls from the sump. Does it pull from the bottom? I'm assuming it isn't since a lot of the fine waste settles to the bottom. So, does it draw from an overflow tube in the sump maybe? Or maybe multiple overflow tubes to minimize a large flow area that could stir up sediment in the bottom around the overflow?

I forgot I had posted this comment or I would have come back and shared what I found out. I actually talked to Discuss Hans and he explained that, yes, it does pull from the bottom and that was an important aspect to his system. Pretty much, all that sediment you see settling at the bottom of the sump is present in the water column but just dispersed in so much water and so many tanks that you can't see it until it all settles together in the bottom. Once it settles, then he evacuates that out by draining the sump area through a bottom drain. So pretty much no sediment is sitting down in the bottom until he shuts the flow off.... then it settles, then he drains it from the bottom to ensure he gets as much out as possible. Hope that helps some.

Absolutely Fantastic! As an engineer, first thing I thought of was how Hans would love his water change system being automated, no more ladder, twisting valves, etc. Congrats! I don't even have Discus, hmm yet, and I found this series absolutely fascinating.

What is the proper GH and KH for raising Discus? My water is very soft, KH is 2 and GH is 2 also. Is this water too soft for discus? I know the PH should be 6.6 to 6.8.

The bubbling is too loud in comparison to the rest of the video & I just find the bubbling annoying. Like I said though, the rest of the video series was great. Too bad Hans' fish room is so noisy for your mic though. Sounded like it was forcing him to yell at you most of the time.

I don't think he has calculated the exact percentage, its a pretty hefty w/c though. His PH is between 7.4-7.6.
