No they do not eat algae you can get discus fish that haven't been raised In RO water and they will live fine in tapwater Long as the pH is ok but if you buy a fish that has been kept in RO water it is very hard to get them to go in full tap water I find they are much happier and the colour seems brighter in Ro water

Good luck keeping your discus in chemically conditioned pH buffer. Keep your discus as they were raised. If they were raised on tap, keep them in tap. RO is overkill but helpful if breeding. It makes sense to keep a fish environment similar to ts natural habitat but when the fish you're keeping are several generations detached from their wild counterparts, then what is the point?

you dont need RO water unless your tap water is extremely hard. Ive heard discus can be kept atGh of about 300ppm with no trouble and Ive kept discus at pH of 8 without any problems too.

but whats the point in that. Theres no point using RO to take out all impurities and then to top it up with tap water filled with crap. WTF???

Waterlife 6.5 buffer or 7.0 or 6.0 you can get it on eBay for about £6.00 and it normally lasts about six months
