Here are the steps to make a cheap and effective Algae Turf Scrubber. These are used to keep your water parameters in check. It allows you to feed heavy and removes phosphates and nitrates. My tank has been battling Algae so I finally decided to implement the ATS! Follow along in this video to see if you want to make your own. The flow on this will always change cause once it ever kicks off that slit Is gonna fill up with algae. Not ideal bruh.. You need some upgrades on your design.. If you can't keep the flow dialed in the turf will dry out and die.. Or clog and start pissing out if the sump right when you leave your house.. Just sayin..

Hey Brenton, the ATS worked pretty good. But I took it down because I only had 2 fish in the tank. But Im thinking about running it in my system again. Are you thinking about using it?

Nice first build, and great roughed up screen! Few helping points: Use white or clear screen; it will reflect the most light to the algae. And as was said, the flow should cover the whole screen heavily. You can do that without rebuilding, by cutting the screen vertically to about 4" wide, then taping up the remainder of the slot, and focusing the light in the narrow strip (both sides).

Hey Thanks Santa Monica Filtration. I was thinking about getting a stronger pump and see how the flow would be. But if that fails, ill probably trim some of the screen. I have noticed it has benefited my tank. Thanks for watching!

Good build, but yeah its gonna need way more flow. also the red ledpar38s off amazon are cheap and grow crazy better. Keep us updated.

Nice build my man! I like the fact that you tied it into that reactor. You might find that you need to up the flow at some point to get good algae growth. 35g per hour for every inch of slot. I found when I had my ATS I actually got better algae growth with the 2600k "warm white" cfl's, but the "daylights" should work fine.
