Hi what heater do you use in this tank? I have a 300w heater in my 3ft tank but I struggle to get the water temp above 29c. Is it best to use 2 heaters?

Nick Williams // I use 2 heaters. Just in case if one of them will not work and also they do help each other to keep proper temperature.

Always buy more than 4 or 5, they are a shoaling fish that need groups for security and they establish a pecking order so if u only have 2 the more dominant one will constantly pick on the weaker one and 1 it will not have a sense of security. Best way to keep ph at a decent level for discus is go buy some peat moss balls and put them in your filter.They last months and you can also add bog wood.Youll have no problems keeping discus in a ph of between 6.5 right up to 7.2.

Nice video. Scratch the rain water. Some places will be better than others but as rain water falls it picks up contaminants on the way down. Not a risk in willing to take. Ime. good luck with the discus!! Some nice ones

To measure it you can use test strips but there not the most accurate I use a chemical formula to test input some of the water and the chemical in a tube and it colours up to tell you the ph. Ways of hanging the ph you can do it naturally eg adding certain woods to make it more acidic or certain rocks make it more alkaline hope that helps

Thats a pretty nice set-up. Cheers from Canada, thanks for the advice. You are correct, discus aren't as hard as people think. Lots of water changes is my best advice to new discus keepers. That white one is fantastic! I keep cory cats and 4 pictus cats in my tank and they get along fine.

thanks to clean my sand and get the uneaten food i quite often use a net create a whirlpool by moving it about then food then tends to come up out of the sand and i just net it from there with the food if there is any left after 5 mins or so net it up

no dont use a buffer had problems where it was even lower i have put in the two pieces of tuffer rock to get up to where it is i have never used chemicals in my tank and i want to keep it that way
