I do 30% each 10, 15 days and i have the water excellent.... when i started with discus ... i had problems with the green water (algas).... but i bought a filtro uv and i dont hace any problem.... the filter or filtro un is the best.... i change the water each 15 days because i want... beacuse the water is in the state when i did the last change....

Just wanna add that nitrate higher than 40ppm lead to stunted growth fish may not grow at all even given variety of food the cleaner the water with low nitrate the more amazing growth so overwaterchanges pls discus keeper

High nitrate levels are certainly not good for discus. Not sure if its been proven to stunt discus growth but it certainly is not optimal for them and can lead to other health issues and lessen their lifespan for sure.

yes discus produce a lot of waste and they need more food daily to enhance their color and growth ,so nitrate are increasing and they need frequent water changes .i do 50percent water changes each three days and one full once each 10 days and cleaning filter from waste

i have a 220 gallon tank with about 6 fishes 1 discus i want to get more discus but not if i have to do water changes everyday. is it very necessary do do so many water changes?

It really is if you want to start with small juvenile fish and grow them out into big beautiful discus. If you start with full grown adults you dont necessarily have to do quite as many.
