Sometimes a head shot just misses the brain and its a pain when the big fish run. Ever thought of a 223/5.56mm power head for big fish and sharks? I have one but never used it much always just brain shot fish. once one has had thousands of spear shots it gets to be second nature and easy to do. I spent years shooting small water logged leaves under water as they sunk down for practice. Nice video and fish also nice rig I am glad divers now use the cables, D rings and floating ropes back 30-40 years ago it was not common. I also attached a small block of wood with duct tape near the spear guns end then a pelican light. used it to look into reef holes. That way the spear gun was not damaged by tape and I would smooth it down over the rail for the spear. In open water we ran 300 ft floating nylon rope and a float or several so large fish in open areas could not pull us under. You could get pulled along for a good half hour while you waited for the boat to catch up and the fish to get tired.

No. I started a club when I was at LSU but I graduated and it's no longer operating. I just teach scuba right now in New Orleans but I'm going to do a lot more rodeos next year than I have in the past.

Ha yeah I probably could have. Somehow my second shot in the head didn't kill him. It still had a couple hard runs left in him so I didn't want to risk getting tangled up. He had 2 shafts and about 20 feet of cable hanging out his head plus there's a lot of cable and net hanging off that rig!
