The biggest idiot in this video would have to be the dive leader..handling aquatic life? Should have his certification revoked, if he has any that is...secondly, with a strong tide running, I didn't see one reef -hook between them...do yourselves, and the marine life, a favour guys...get some scuba training, for your'e own safety, and that of the environment your'e in..

Thank you for posting this video. I'll probably never get to the Great Barrier Reef and it was really nice to see. The reason why I even found this video was because my 3 year old was asking why people would go scuba diving. Great example!

@UberOne2010 shut up douche. they'll do whatever the hell they want. don't give me this 'don't touch the aquatic life' bullshit. haven't you ever eaten fish? you could make a strong argument that that's way worse than what you saw in this video. idiot.

very nice marine diversity but the only thing was the respect you guys had for aquatic life is really was shocking !!! i'm a 12 year old kid and i have quite a lot of dives logged and i'm a junior advanced open water diver and what i just saw whas quite apalling ! you people are adults, come on ! i as a child work with reef gardeners and i protect and repair reefs so this kind of made me sad.... haven't you ever read padi guidelines ? DO NOT TOUCH TOUCH OR HARASS AQUATIC LIFE PLEASE ! Thank you

@needsecretlink Dude, Animals in aquatic territory hardly feel anything at all. Do some research before you start flaming.

Box jellies are seasonal and are stay in certain temperature water. This is how they forecast their population. Nets are to keep all sorts of "dangerous" animals out.

What you say about not touching the Aquatic life isn't true. They say to not touch it but if you realy want to touch it doesn't matter at all. Those animals don't mind it if you treath them right.

Hmmm--definitely a very insensitive way of dealing with creatures that can't defend itself. I'm sure they're not gonna show anything on the video "harming" creatures, they're too busy molesting them...dude! And dude, you can't be sure yourself that no damage was done! I certainly wouldn't want to be around these people who don't have any respect for wildlife!

ok got ur point.but it was the diving instructor who let us touch the sea cucumber.what r we suppose to do...there r lil communications when ur under water...i guess it was part of the tour.

And you've already demonstrated a few posts before me that you don't even know how deep the water you went swiming in was. In fact, you seem quite clueless on the sport in general. Rcheliboy put you on the straight and narrow and you have the cheek to call me a dumbass. That's ironic to say the least. You think you know what you're talking about but you have no idea.
Andre
Andre - 14 years ago
Wow, what a classy guy. You started early with the insults. Why do you have to touch them? That's my point. "Cos I'm curious" or anything along those lines don't make it acceptable - what a studid response.
Jewel W
Jewel W - 14 years ago
Lol, dumbass... When threatened, some sea cucumbers discharge sticky threads to ensnare their enemies. Others can mutilate their own bodies as a defense mechanism. They violently contract their muscles and jettison some of their internal organs out of their anus. The missing body parts are quickly regenerated. Did you see the cucumber threatened??

No respect for the wildlife - imagine if i went into your house and started picking you up and touching you. Yeah, not nice is it?

Thats not true at all, u can be pro but not trained to go to 60 for example. To go to 60m you would require gas blending and multipule tank usage, and possibly having tanks hanging from ropes at each decompression stop. Sometimes, police divers have their primary air source on the surface, and it is fed through a pipe, the tank on their back is the secondary. It requires training and 50m really is pushing the limits of recreational diving

I think it's about 50m + deep. of course you can go as deep as you can if your a pro diver.
Ian Patricia Chan

But how deep is the actual reef? I know they only take people to 10m on dsd, but is the deep 10m?
Jewel W
Jewel W - 14 years ago
First dive will only allow you 10 meters and the diving tours depending upon who you go with usually provides the video which you can purchase to keep.you can watch couple of GBR videos I have uploaded which was taken by me and my friends.

Great vid, i loved it, how deep is the barrier reef, cos i want to go now lol! Did u do any light or colour editing to the vid, i'll be goin somewhere tropical in summer-autumn time, and i wanna make a good vid! Did one of your friends film, or was there a dive leader who filmed for you?

dude they picked up a sea cucumber .. not exactly going extinct are they ? and did they damage any thing in the video ? .. yeh thought so

beautiful video. It's disappointing that these divers don't have any respect for underwater creatures. You're suppose to refrain from touching these delicate animals as they can hurt you and you can hurt them. That should have been covered by the diving course but most people tend to ignore it when no one's looking.
