We are going there next week and have a snorkel trip booked for the reef. I have this huge fear of Sharks is why i asked.

Puerto Morelos is the best place for Snorkel, the reef is really amazing and the coral look like an oleous painting. but is important, don't pay for a tour in the agencies inside of the hotels, they have just 1 place for snorkel, the best options is with the local fishermen, they know where is the best place depending the season, the hour and the envinronment conditions, and not just you'll pay a cheaper price, you'll give them employment to local people

Hi im thinking of making this my destination. Can you tell me, can you snorkel just off the beach or do you have to go out further with a guide. Im not a super confidant swimmer so i was hoping to find an area with calm waters and not too deep. We will be going in march. Did you stay in puerto morelos? Any recomendations? Thanx!
