Fish Hatchery Madness

So for my Fisheries and Wildlife Science course we had to go out to the fish hatcheries for a lab. In this lab we learn how to handle medium sized fish hybrids of brook trout and Atlantic char. We learn how to strip the eggs and sperm out of the fish, how to dry fertilize and wetfertilize the eggs. Then how to count the green eggs. I have to say that this was a fun lab.

Seriously though, I was going to school in Cobleskill NY, which is kinda in central-ish New York state. Now I live like not 4 minutes from where you Sam were going to college in the first season. XD
THANKS TO YOU FOR SUCH YOU TUBE PRESENTATION
ALL ANIMALS IN THIS WORLD ARE IN ANY WAY HELPS HUMAN BEINGS AND THEY ARE PET, EXCEPT SOME. GENERALLY PETS OBEYS BETTER TO THEIR MASTER COMPARING HUMAN BEING. AS DOG. IN WORLD WAR--2 GERMANS USED DOG AS THEIR TOOLS AND STILL DOG ARE BETTER THAN HUMAN IN CASE OF SERVING THEIR MASTERS. THE COWS, BUFFALO, DEER. GOATS. HENS. DUCKS ETC. ETC. ARE HOW MUCH BENEFICIAL TO HUMAN AS WELL AS PETS CAN YOU IMAGINE. SNAKES ARE EATEN BY CHINEESE FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSE AND SNAKE VENOMS ARE USED TO CURE THOSE WHO HAVE BITEN BY SNAKES. THERE ARE ARE USEFUL SCIENCES REGARDING SNAKE VENOM POSSIBLY YOU KNOW. BUT SNAKES ARE FEROCIOUS COMPARING OTHER PETS. NO PETS KILLS THEIR MASTER EXCEPT SNAKES. TIGER, LION. GOOD DAY TO YOU AND MANY MANY THANKS. I LIVE IN BANGLADESH. ONE OF MY BROTHER LIVES IN NEW YORK IN FIFTH AVENUE FOR LONG TIME

DEAR TERRA ANNE
SNAKES AND TIGER CAN NOT BE PET ONE UNLESS YOU ROOT OUT THEIR TEETH. THESE TWO THING CAN ANYTIME KILL THEIR MASTER AS SEEN IN LAST WORLD PET HISTORY. THESE TWO ARE NOT PLAYING THING IF YOU HAVE SOME PITY ON YOUR OWN LIFE. I LOVE YOUR LIFE
VERY FEARFUL OF SNAKE PICTURE WITH YOUR PICTURE. ELEMINATE SNAKE PICTURE FROM YOU
Thanks
It's extremely educational, and easy to understand.
Thank you for taking the time to post this...
so that we can benefit from the video
I can feel that a lot of them are heavy and cool to the touch, sometimes with a sort of shifting weight that you get with things that have water in them, and I'm sure that most haven't hatched yet. I rarely go to the beach when I'm in Virginia because the sand fleas bite my ankles so much, but when I do, it seems that most of my time is spent throwing mermaid's purses back into the water and I leave exhausted because there are so many of them. Also I've read elsewhere that because they're so light, they tend to come in during high tides. I'm the only one I see throwing them back, though, so what do other people know that I don't, or am I just the only one who worries about the baby fish inside?

Grow up.
Nobody cares about you.
Without fish farms, the oceans would be empty soon.
You would prefer that?

ONE: DIscus fish have specific requirements like other freshwater fish - once you understand these requirements, they are just like other pet fish!
TWO: All of the supplies and equipment that you can possibly need to care for discus fish are widely available
THREE: Discus fish are a hardy species - unless you really neglect your pet fish, the ones in your tank will do their best to adapt
great video btw thx
In all seriousness though yeah most of them were females.
These fish can lay egg naturally, is just that they squeeze the egg out to collect easier and faster because when it is released underwater it will be harder to scoop out. A female would release eggs when the male is around and the male will straight away fertilize the eggs so artificial insemination isn't possible.
For example, a tub of eggs from 1 specimen can be separated and fertilized with 2 different male sperm. Instead of breeding the same female twice with 2 different males. Not only that, sometimes selective breeding isnt possible due to reasons such as aggression or the fish not suitable for each other this is where artificial insemination comes in handy because the 2 fish will not meet and still produce the babies.
Though you make a good point that by being able to release the eggs ourselves it makes it easier to choose which male that we would like to have his sperm will fertilize.
