fliptop sound like they are inspired byJohn Butler - maybe a little too much on this track :) they sound great in that recording though. the vid is tops. a few hundred meters north of this spot is a nice part of the reef called second middles - theres plenty of waves on offer out there. always a good warm up spot for any bali trip...

its a fair away from ulu if you are looking for waves like that Sanua is a good place to start surfing bali. plus it isnt as far away as kuta reef.

@surfsup1552 at low tide it gets shallow enough to touch the bottom if you ride it to the end and wipe out. at very low tides the reef is exposed. not too bad overall though. at the end of the reef is the famous kuta beach abourt 1km away. hope this answers your question.

@sean chadwick this is about as mellow as it gets in bali. we had to go to uluatu one day in the middle of the week because it simply wasnt breaking elsewhere. it has potential to get epic at kuta but if you want a heavy wave then head down to padangs. cheers!

All these videos are from the break called "Middles" which is generally less crowded than Kuta Reef... they are about 500m from each other. Typically there was about 10-20 people out most days. But there are a lot of beginners and when it gets a little bigger then numbers drop pretty quickly.

Its a very long paddle, you maybe could on a long board. Its better to walk to the end of Kuta reef where a whole lot of boats are waiting to take you out to the reef. It costs 50,000 (~$5AUS) for the drivers to take you out, just tell them when you want to be picked up again and they will pick you up. Cheers.
