This is James Findley's latest aquascape which he has entitled 'Arizona'. We are publishing this to show the completed hardscape at the end of the day of aquascaping which was broadcast live on 26th July 2013 from The Green Machine in Wrexham, UK. In approximately 3 weeks time James will be planting the aquarium. This day will be broadcast live on the day and a video will later be published showing the entire process right through to grown in aquascape. Love the desert scape. I live in Utah the state known for red rock and a dryer state than Arizona. I should collect some red sand and red rocks and make a desert scape! Downoi kinda looks like a round cactus. I could use Riccia for sagebrush! And I can use native plants!!

I usually love his scapes but I'm not fond of this one. It's too balanced. I think it might look better if the tank was split more.

Looks way too symmetrical... no sense of the golden ratio. (2 small, 1 large, 1 small, 1 large, 2 small). You need to think rule of thirds and non symmetry when designing a nature layout.

I wish more aquarium people did nice scapes, I feel like its generally only the planted tank people who do it meaningfully. Like, without plants, this almost looks like it could be an african cichlid setup.

Hscience...I think its because TGM uses ADA aquasoil as substrate and in the first few weeks it leaches off large amounts of amonia (but longterm it has better fertillisers etc in the aquasoil). I think the other aquascapes might be dirted tanks or other substrates.

Looks great, ifeel the single tall standing stone is almost to powerful of a eye catcher, it will be interesting to see how he blends it all together with the plants so it flows, just my opinion, beautiful scape :) good shots of the tank:)

Great scape! Love the large rocks, the shadow casting makes them look like they have faces like the sculptures on Easter Island. Very nice!

Question: Why does this one have to wait three weeks before the planting? Where as other aquascapes get planted right away during the build. This is beautiful I can't wait to see the natural order of flow take over!
