Penac P: 90% of CaCO3, some MgCO3 and rest are natural contaminants ==> basically beach sand minus NaCl.
how much you paid for those bottles of fairy dust .
In my opinion of course .
Also, check out this other video, it shows some of the progress made a few weeks later https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR7-QQBgWvU

Good luck with your tank !
I bought them from a local ADA store, here in Los Angeles.
Thsnks for watching!
The only thing that requires a bit of siphoning is the sand when some particles of soil get carried on top of it.
Thanks for watching!

You're welcome :-)
When you have the new tank syndrome, is almost inevitable not to get algae, but on the long run it does help. The main thing is to be able to maintain a good balance between light, nutrients and CO2 (specially with a high-tech tank)

This tank has been broken down due to downsizing, had to go from 3 to 1 tank and unfortunately the smaller tanks went away :-(
Kept my 55 and rescaped it, will post a vid with the step by step set up and progress.
Thanks for checking in ;-)
I will keep future carpets with only one species of foreground plant.

It's not completely done, as I did not have any rocks, but I am gonna get those and put them on the right and do a bit of smaller details in the sand/ect.
I know it's not as big/green/pretty as yours but, Please tell me what you think :)
PS: did u see the new title of the video? :)

It depends how much surface you want to cover with sand. For about a third of the aquarium bottom I would get a large bag of 8kg plus a 2kg extra bag just in case.
I don't vacuum the soil where the plants are, it is not necessary for planted tanks in my opinion. I only vacuum the loose soil that gets mixed with my sand bed every now and then. Note: the ADA sand has a much larger granule than the refusal sand and it doesn't compact itself. It's like made of mini rocks :) I hope this helps a bit. Good luck!
Where do i find those separators?
Because i want to create different levels in my tank and this looks the perfect way to do.
It's called corrugated plastic and you can get it from your local home improvement store or online.
Yeah it took me about 1 yr to buy everything I needed for this project :)
If I ever go ADA this will be a great resource. I'm not even on CO2. I just tossed a 40 pound bag of organic dirt and some other things into my 120.
I'm never going to be able to grow HC (Dwarf Baby Tear) and that plant might honestly make me want to take the CO2 jump.
Cheers
It is a challenge to grow HC but the results are enjoyable.
I like your vids, keep up the good work!
I actually had to remove one light and kept 48 watts (the tank is pretty shallow, 10 inch, and the algae were going crazy during week 2 and 3, see update videos)
Baby tears is doing well, I do have CO2 on the setup, about 2 bps.
