I have an AquaSurge 3000 that provides perfect, 10ft elevation flow for my boulder, waterfall pond circulation.  I'm on my 8th year of low-maintenance, use.  I must have misplaced the filter cover shown in this video.  What I use instead, as a filter, is I saved the mesh from onion & orange bags, folded it over & attach it to the intake with an elastic band.  If the waterfall seems to flow slow, I put my rubber boots on & wipe away the pond debris off the mesh & its back to high flow again.  I hope this helps.

I have had AquaSurge 4000 running for 5 years before it failed. I have really hard water which probably didn't help, but 5 years of near continuous operation = a great product. I barely noticed my utility bill change, if at all. I just bought a new AquaSurge 5000, expect it to last at least until 2017. Great product.
