you didnt descried how it is filtered beside the net? i assume its not drinkable then? tho it would probably be cleaner than tap water.

No, the water stored using the RainXchange system, including a Rain
Barrel, is not potable/drinkable. In order to be potable, it would need
to go through a series of filters such as UV & charcoal.

Just do what we do in Oz. Buy a couple thousand litre plastic rainwater tank for a $1000, connect your down pipe to it and voila. Water storage!

Asphalt shingles contain contaminants such as cadmium. Slate and tile (not plastic) roofs last hundreds of years and do not contaminate the water or the ground where rainwater regularly flows off them. If you are lucky enough to have one of those, it's worth repairing when it needs it! BTW, if you do not live in a wildfire prone area, cedar roof shingles last as long as asphalt, are renewable, and truly non-toxic.

I have heard experts say you can, and that even an asphalt roof does not add enough toxins to need filtering. This is capitalism at work, charging for something that literally falls out of the sky.
