Why the fertile substrate first? Can't i just use Substrate? Sorry I'm new to this :/
Bob Dz- 9 years ago
fertile substrate provides some nutrients for plants, but you can use plain inert substrate. visit plantedtank.net

you should invest on a cheapo pressurized sprayer for easy aquascaping ;)

small co2 system are most costly because of the quicker changes. best buy a big tank and refill must cheaper in the long run with the same precision
Stefan O'Brien- 10 years ago
what type of filter are you using?
CrystalRedeu- 10 years ago
Thank you!
CrystalRedeu- 10 years ago
well actually it depends on the size of the tank, normally a CO2 kit can be a bit expensive at first, but then it will stay a life, you just need to charge the bottle once in a big while.
CrystalRedeu- 10 years ago
Yes, in a planted tank like this one, you always need CO2 injection allied to fertilization in order the plants to thrive :)
paraplegicgiraffe- 10 years ago
Do you need to do CO2 injection, even if you have fish in the tank?
laskolasko- 10 years ago
I'm trying to think what's the most expensive component of aquascaping... The plants or the Co2 system? Co2 systems can be godly expensive the bigger the tank, where as the smaller the tank, a DIY Co2 system can be less then 15$. Can't find a Co2 system for my 100 gallon, Crystal Redeu, can you recommend me a set up?
CrystalRedeu- 10 years ago
Hello,
Was used Tropica Plant Growth Substrate and Aquatic Nature Pro-Soil on top.

The first soil used prevents algae by giving to the plants the nutrients they need. If plants are well fed by nutrients algae will have no chance, this of course with CO2 injection and light to give them all they need to grow healthy. :) There are a lot of products nowadays so you'll have a hard time by choosing what you really need! Good luck
Mohd Fir- 10 years ago
im kinda new to this hobby, still collecting information and study about making one of it, on other video based on how to setup planted tank, i watched them put something that used to prevent algae growth later... is this recommended?? or your soil does have the algae growth preventor?... im a newbies.. :) ...
